Balen, literally means promise

My name is Balen Saleh, I am a pharmaceutical science student. I have been a course representative
for the 2 years that I have been at the University of Salford and now I want to represent you.
I want to take these following concerns to the NUS conference:

Reduce tuition fees
Xenophobia
?
- I want to see the reduction of tuition fees. Since 2012 when tuition fees were tripled, according to
recent data, there has not been any economic gain. Therefore, I feel this additional pressure on us
students is not fair. For this reason, I propose a reasonable decrease to tuition fees for students.
- The second issue I need is to deal with is Xenophobia. Being an Asian and a Muslim I have faced
racist and islamaphobic comments, and I want to make a change. I propose that universities across
the country work in coordination with their respective societies, i.e. African Caribbean Society or
ISOC, to educate students about our fellow minority groups.
- For my third issue I want to hear from you, the people I am representing. What bothers you? What
