Purpose of the Position:
To run Dance at College. To oversee the academic provision of Dance at GCSE and A Level and to ensure
that the delivery on the curriculum is inspiring, relevant and successful. To run a stimulating, challenging
and varied extra-curricular dance programme across College.
Departmental Information
Dance will work closely with the Drama department as part of the performing arts faculty
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

To teach dance from year 9 through to year 13
To teach courses for GCSE and A level
To teach a standard timetable allocation for a Head of Subject (currently 30 periods of 1 hour in a 12day cycle)
To run the extra-curricular Dance programme including setting up and running shows, competitions,
trips, assembly showcases, workshops, extension programmes, Visitors’ Days and prep school events
etc
To run the department including writing Schemes of Work, setting and marking examinations,
moderating coursework, attending HODs’ meetings.
To enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Department and wider College through sharing
resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring and active
participation in professional learning.
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children
To support the College’s aims and objectives for teaching and learning
To oversee the work of visiting dance teachers
To liaise with parents of pupils doing Dance as necessary
To work in collaboration with the Drama department to support theatre productions
