ENTERTAIN FOR HOSPITALS
entertaining patients
at the highest level
Entertain for Hospitals, Telekom’s modern patient entertainment system, combines high-quality content,
ease of use, and a large number of usage options. Depending on the hospitals’ offering, patients can watch
TV series, motion pictures or documentaries live or recorded, they can fast-forward and rewind, and they
can call up feature films and serials (Video on Demand). They can also use Entertain for Hospitals to surf
the Internet, to play online games, to read books, newspapers and magazines from the online kiosk, to
make phone calls, or to choose their meal from the on-screen menu. The solution works independently of
manufacturers, fascinates above all with first-class content, and is characterized by innovative purchase or
operator (license) models.
SERVICE FOR THE FEELgOOD EFFECT
Deutsche Telekom offers patients in hospitals and rehab facilities along
with residents of old folks’ homes and hostels a solution that combines
information and entertainment. In doing so they offer their patients an
up-to-date service, benefit from low-maintenance technology, and optimize
their processes at the same time. The system can be used, for example,
to map building services (blinds, lighting, heating) and a qualified service
call. Along with the wide-ranging possibilities for house advertising of
products and services or for integrating advertising partners, they can
customize the system to their corporate identity and draw patients’ attention to their offerings on their in-house TV.
In the calendar, patients can enter and make appointments for physiotherapy or the hairdresser—even if they are unable to leave their hospital
beds—and they can choose their meal from the on-screen menu in comfort and their own good time. And should they not want to be disturbed,
they can indicate that too comfortably from their hospital bed.
Entertain for Hospitals enables you to offer patients a good service that
remains a positive memory. You will also boost patient satisfaction and
make your facility more competitive by means of word-of-mouth recommendations. When patients have a choice they will always opt for the
best comfort that is available.

easy to install
No cabling work is needed to install the system because it uses existing
network, telephone or coax connectors to transmit signals. The system
can be used both with conventional TV sets and modern thin-client
terminal devices with touch screens. This combination of TV and touchscreen is especially useful in facilities with psychiatric wards and acutecare beds. A low energy consumption, low noise level, and minimal heat
generation characterize the thin-client solution. According to Gartner
market research, thin-client devices are 48 percent less expensive to run
than PCs. With all of the services and applications running on a central
server and the terminal device serving merely as a simple input-output
device, the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy
Technology reckons that electricity bill savings of around 80 percent can
be achieved.
