November 19, 2016 I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me (Matthew 25:40, The Message Bible). Dear Cherished Friends, You prayed, God heard, God moved. North Report Yumbe District Uganda October 10 – 15, 2016. Good news. Our dental and eye and blood screening teams were able to see over 1,000 patients over four weeks ago from Tuesday to Friday. Screening was done for HIV, hepatitis B and malaria. A visiting American doctor was able to save the life of a patient suffering a severe asthma attack. Long queues of people waited for medical and dental care each day. Watching the Jesus film on the iPad in the tree The Jesus film in the newly recorded Aringa language version attracted several thousand people during seven showings, including an iPad version (pictured above). Over 920 indicated salvation decisions. Of the 920 decisions, 300 were from several Jesus film showings in South Sudanese refugee camps. The Aringa New Testament is the first publication to be written in the Aringa language! Four Aringa New Testaments were presented to four teachers who indicated salvation decisions at a local school where our teams visited. Over eighteen recorded decisions for Christ through Story Runner Bible Stories told by Lynn and Ugandan Cru staff member Jane. All but one were Muslims. Two were language translators, one for Lynn and Jane and the second for another Cru staff. Eighteen women taking care of their children who were patients in a Yumbe hospital received Christ through a Bible story leading to a gospel presentation. Glory be to the Father. Everywhere children! The girl in the middle with the bright smile is Warida. She followed Lynn for four days. Hopefully it was worth it . She heard the gospel several times. Pray she’ll follow the One who was born to die. Community life in rural Yumbe. Thanks for all your prayers which yielded significant results. “African Dream” Dinner A German atheist, an ENT doctor and a university graduate and his aunt and uncle attended the “African Dream” dinner October 28th at a local hotel. These guests of the Chapmans joined over a hundred others gathered to hear Dr. Peter Asiimwe speak on his newly launched book, The African Dream. Dr. Peter is one of our immediate bosses and we work with him in leadership ministry. His passion is to connect African men and women leaders to Christ. His book investigates Africa's biblical history, her resources and the future contribution Africa will play worldwide. “In The African Dream, my purpose is to use the historical, geographical, contemporary, sociological and the biblical perspectives to define Africa” (Dr. Peter Asiimwe). We are thrilled to tell you that two out of the five people we invited received Christ while listening to Dr. Peter's personal testimony and gospel presentation. Please pray for effective spiritual mentoring for the ENT doctor and our university graduate friend's uncle who received Christ.
