The Event:
Join our recently elected Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor
Andrew Montague
For a leisurely cycle to raise much needed funds for Console.
The event is envisaged as a fun and leisurely cycle along the
newly constructed “Green Route” a dedicated cycle path along
the banks of the Grand Canal. The route of this cycle follows the
canal as it meanders its way from the heart of our capital city to
the beautiful lush green fields of county Dublin.
The cycle starts at the Grand Canal Dock outside the new Grand
Canal Theatre and follows the new dedicated cycle lane along
the canal. It joins the road for a short period at Parnell Road and
then drops onto the new Green Route at Inchicore and heads on
away from all traffic to the 12th Lock at Lucan. It actually passes
under the M50 and out into the country.
When:
Sunday September 25th
Time:
10am
From:
Grand Canal Dock
To:
The 12th Lock Lucan
Projected Income:
Our target is to issue 500 sponsorship cards and ask each
person to raise €100 per card. If the demand is greater we can
issue additional cards.
This would yield an income of €50,000. for Console.
What will this money be used for?
This money will be ring fenced and go towards setting up a
psychotherapy service to help at risk adolescents and
children.
Stewarding:
The entire cycle will be overseen by officers from the pedal
cycle division of An Garda Siochana. There will also be
volunteer stewards along the entire route operating under
guidance from the Gardai.
Licence:
A licence application has been forwarded to Waterways Ireland
who control all events on the canal.
Insurance:
O Driscoll and O Neill Insurances have been retained to arrange
the public liability insurance required to cover the entire event.
Sponsorship:
As this is a truly worthy cause every little help will be most
appreciated. There are many ways you can help.
