Launched Negro History Week in 1926, chosen in the second week of February
between the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, which evolved into
Black History Month in 1976. Black History Month, or National African American
History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time
for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. It is celebrated
annually in the United States and Canada in February, and the United Kingdom in
October. The colors of Black history are Red representing blood, Black representing
the race, and Green representing the land.
Children must be picked up no later than 3:00
p.m., unless they are a part of CLC or are
engaged in extra-curricular activities.

From Your Parent Engagement Coordinator
Dear Parents:
We are in need of your assistance. Although, I haven’t had the opportunity to
engage with all of you, my goal is meet each of you, join together and brainstorm
ways that will increase parent involvement and improve student achievement. Most
importantly, you are an integral part of your child’s learning process and we want to
help provide the tools you might need to help your child learn and succeed. Without
your presence, insight/ feedback and just a little of your time, the task becomes
incomplete. The best educational experiences come from a partnership between
school and families. Thus, no partnership can succeed without good communication. I
am your liaison, ready available to hear your thoughts, get to know you, most
importantly get you involved. At your convenience, stop by the Parent Center Room
29 or give me a call at (414) 874-5325. Thank you.
