Design and Technology
Maths
Pupils will use colour and pattern to design a bag,
starting with a planning session in Grab a Grown-up.
Pupils will recall square, cube and prime numbers.
They will use sewing and decoration techniques to
make a bag.
Pupils will continue to develop their knowledge of perimeters
and areas of irregular 2D shapes and areas of 3D shapes.
Pupils will revisit strategies to complete problems involving
division and multiplication. These problems will focus on the
measures-money, length and mass.
PSHE/SRE
Pupils will consider the statistics related to measures when
planning a holiday.
Pupils will discuss moving onto a new class
and how friendships evolve.
Pupils will use Google Earth to
explore locations linked to our
work in Geography.
Pupils will reflect on what they have learnt
this year in PSHE discussions and discuss
any concerns they have about moving on to
a new year group.
They will use unit converters to
compare values from different
countries.
English
Music
Computing
Pupils will learn two songs
connected with the pioneer
settlers.
They will create an
arrangement for one of these
songs.
Pupils will write a survival leaflet for first-time
mountain walkers, which is based on their
knowledge acquired in Geography lessons.
They will write and present a persuasive
advertisment.
Pupils will read and discuss a range of poetry
about mountains and write their own modelled
poems.
Pupils will improve their cricket
PE
skills through playing variations
of Quick Cricket.
RE
Art & Design
Pupils will learn about Naitive
Americans-particularly the Navajo.
Cornish Christianity
They will study Navajo design and the
symbols, colours and patterns they
use in their rugs.
Pupils will develop their
understanding of why people
feel attracted to Cornwall as a
centre of spiritualilty.
Pupils will then create designs to
represent themselves.
Geography
Pupils will learn about the Grampians
in Scotland throughout Winter and
assess the dangers facing climbers.
Pupils will compare the Grampians and
Rockies for features and size .
Languages
French.
Pupils will learn about oysters and how they
are farmed.
They will listen to French people
discussing their jobs, likes and dislikes
and then create a translation.
PE
Pupils will be learning how
to play quick cricket and
they will improve their
batting and bowling skills.
