IEI Kuwait Chapter membership: The
Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait
chapter invites all its members to update their
membership information for the year 2016-17
and actively participate in the chapter activities. Indian engineers residing in Kuwait are
welcome to join the pool of more than 700,000
engineers by becoming corporate or non-corporate members of The Institution of Engineers
(India). IEI, Kuwait Chapter conducts many
technical events for the benefit of its members. Please watch for the upcoming events in
your registered e-mail or announcement in the
media. The chapter has science club activities for member’s children, and ladies wing
activities for the member’s family. IEI, Kuwait
chapter has facility to register student members
for AMIE Examination for those interested in
pursuing career enrichment.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2017: 14th
Malayali Media Forum organized X’mas
and New Year celebrations last Dec 30.
The program staged at Haitham Royal Restaurant, Farwaniya. MMF general convener
Sam Pynummoodu presided the meeting.
Famous dramatist Babu Chackola inaugurated the event. Program convener Sathar
Kunnil delivered Christmas and New Year
message. Felicitation speeches were made
by leading journalist Sajeev Peter, Thomas
Kadavil, Mohamed Riyaz, Abdul Fatah,
Nixon George, Aziz Thikkodi, T.V. Hikmath,
Nijaz Kassim, Mustafa, Noufal Moodadi,
Muneer Ahmed and Anil P. Alex. The highlight of the day was a musical program led
by famous singer in our Malayali community Biju Thikkodi. MMF convener Ismayil
Payyoli and Salim Kottayil proposed the
welcome speech and vote of thanks respectively.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is
being organized from Jan 7-9, 2017 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC)
Karnataka. Highlights of PBD 2017 are:
(i) PBD 2017 will focus on the theme
“Redefining the engagement with the Indian
Diaspora”.
(ii) To strengthen Diaspora engagement and
provide a platform for networking with the
Diaspora.
(iii) To recognize the Diaspora’s contribution to India and know their expectations and
concerns.
(iv) To deepen engagement with young
Diasporas, to help them know more about their
roots.
The PBD Convention features Plenary Sessions; an Exhibition; Cultural programmes and
provides an opportunity to interact with other
Overseas Indians, Policy makers, Political
leadership and others. The highlight of the
PBD convention is the inaugural address by
the Prime Minister. Chief Ministers of several
states also participate and address the delegates
on opportunities available in their respective states. The last day of PBD features the
valedictory address by the Hon’ble President
of India, who will also confer the Pravasi
Bharatiya Samman Awards on Overseas Indian
for their achievements and contribution both in
India and abroad.
The Youth PBD is a new feature which has
been introduced recently. It is a special day
long programme which provides a platform to
connect with Young Overseas Indians and discuss subjects of relevance to them. The Young
PBD delegates will also have the opportunity
to interact with other Young PIOs and Young
Indians of their own age group. The highlight
of the Youth PBD is the inaugural address by
the Minister of External Affairs and Minister
of Youth Affairs and Sports, followed by a plenary session, cultural programme and dinner.
There will also be a PBD Exhibition from
Jan 7-9, 2017 on following five themes:
