Noah Derksen Releases Video for Deep Blue Exclusive Premiere via Exclaim! (December 1, 2016) Vancouver-based contemplative folk singer-songwriter Noah Derksen released the music video for his track Deep Blue exclusively via Exclaim! today. The track is the first song from Noah’s sophomore album, In Search of the Way, which was released in October of this year. “The soft, contemplative tune pairs gentle acoustic guitar with Derksen's warm, emotive voice, and the video picks up on the underlying melancholy of the song.” - Exclaim! In Search of the Way is a largely self-produced album alongside engineer David Tallarico and containing production by prominent Vancouver musician/producer Winston Hauschild, and is a natural follow up to Noah’s debut (Man That I Am, Jan 2015). With the latter encompassing a time of profound self-discovery, In Search of the Way is characterized by a longing for direction and purpose. While still maintaining the vulnerability and simplicity found within the Winnipeg-born musician’s debut, this sophomore release displays a musical maturation. The album features Vancouver’s most talented up-and-coming instrumentalists, evident through warm string arrangements and lush backing vocals, among others. With a questioning mind, Noah’s contemplative nature can be felt through honest and poetic lyricism alongside aesthetic musical arrangements. “In Search of the Way depicts a snapshot of my personal and musical progression. In this album I was blessed to work with remarkable musicians, and greatly broaden my scope of musical understanding,” said Noah. “Arranging an ensemble of cello, trumpet, piano, violin, percussion, and more was a wonderful challenge, and through it I was able to explore matters emotional, spiritual, and all things in between.” The album was released amidst a 10-week cross-Canada tour, spanning from Tofino to Halifax.
