2.) Math Minute
3.) Measures of Center & Spread
4.) March 2nd- Math Competition?

Measures of Central Tendency:
Mean, median, and mode
Measure of Spread:
Range

4
MEAN- the "average" of a
set of numbers
To find the mean, add all
the numbers and then
divide by the number of
addends.
5
MEDIAN-the middle number
when a set of data is in order
To find the median- put the
data in order and then find
the middle number. If you
have an even number of
items, find the mean of the
middle two numbers.
6
MODE- the number or
numbers that appear the
most frequently.
To find the mode, find the
number or numbers that
occur more than the others.
If all numbers occur the
same number of times,
there is no mode.
7
8
Range- the difference
between the greatest and
the least numbers in the
data.
To find the range,
subtract the least number
from the greatest number.

On page 378, find the the measures of central tendency and the measure of spread for the line plot shown. On page 379, determine the measures of
central tendency and the measure of
spread for the stem-and-leaf plot shown.

else appears 3 times or less)
