Life: does alcohol destroy it?
Alcohol: a lethal substance. Not only does it
affect the liver, it can negatively affect the
whole body. It causes damage. It causes pain.
However, it can provide relief.
According to alcoholconcern.org.uk, 10.8
million adults drink at levels that pose risks to
their health. This can affect them physically
or psychologically. Anybody can be
potentially affected by alcohol, yet they are
well-aware of the consequences. So, why do
people drink alcohol if they know how it is
ruining their lives?
The most known fact about alcohol is that it
affects your extremely important organs,
especially your liver. If too much alcohol is
absorbed into your bloodstream, then your
liver will break down.
There are various reasons concerning why
people drink alcohol, especially at a young
age. Peer pressure is one of the main
reasons. If people around you drink, then you
are more likely to. Another reason for
drinking alcohol at a young age is when
people have experienced traumatic events,
which leads them to spiral out of control.
This can be considered not to be the fault of
the person because the trauma was not the
fault of the person addicted to the substance.
Alcohol is an extremely harmful substance,
yet in moderation, it can be okay, for adults.
However, we need to find a way to help stop
younger children and teenagers from
drinking too much alcohol, as this can be the
cause for fatal diseases, which can damage
young people even more, as they are still
growing.
Personally, I think one of the most important
ways in which we can prevent underage
alcohol drinking, is raising awareness. If the
teenagers who are drinking these extreme
amounts of alcohol knew the damage it
would have on their bodies, they may be less
likely to continue drinking.
There are many charities which can help
those suffering from underage drinking,
however they are not often publicised
prominently and therefore not many people
know about them. These charities are
extremely important in helping teenagers
recover from what they have previously been
drinking and prevent them from drinking too
much. Therefore we need to support these
charities, as well as the children and
teenagers, going through these tough times.
If we help prevent young people from
drinking alcohol in extreme quantities, this
will not only protect their health but also
potentially save their life.
Life: Does alcohol destroy it? Lives have been
destroyed by alcohol and continue to be
destroyed, yet we cannot allow more lives to
be destroyed.
