Please complete the survey and return it to school ASAP so that the information can be collated and suggestions considered. There is also the Kids Matter Survey. The link for this survey is www.kidsmatter.edu.au/primary/parentsurvey. Reports As mentioned in previous newsletters, we are now using COMPASS as the reporting system for our students this year. The teachers have been spending a considerable amount of time learning how to put on tasks and to create a report that accurately reflects your child's performance at school. Like our previous systems, we are unable to see what you as parents see on the screen so we are currently trying to ensure that once you log in all will be relatively easy for you to find the information. I anticipate that you will have your access codes by next week to enable you to see the comments the teachers have written. By the end of term we will have the completed report on line for you to view, and if you wish, to print of as a compiled semester report. Lightening Premiership Yesterday 58 Inverloch and Kongwak students went to Leongatha to play a variety of sports. A great day was had by all. See reports and photos elsewhere in this newsletter. Helping your child to read Following a number of requests for information about helping your child to read, and/or with their reading skills I will run a session at school on Wednesday 17th June at 7.00pm for parents of any aged child about reading skills and how to help and encourage your child to read. This will be quite informal but will look at the many stages children go through as they acquire reading and comprehension skills and what you can do to support and assist this process. It is suitable for parents of children from birth through to Year 12. Please fill out the slip below if you are able to attend just so I have an idea of numbers. If you can’t make it please complete the slip with alternative times that suit you. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Name :_____________________________________ I can make it to the “Helping your Child to read” session on Wednesday 17th June at 7.00pm I cannot make it on Wednesday evening but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, mornings, afternoons, evenings (Circle days and times) suit better. Written by Elias Pearce, Ben Comerford and Connor Sim LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP BOYS/MIXED NETBALL What a fantastic day for the Boys/Mixed netball team at the Lightning Premiership netball competition. They played 3 consistent games of netball, with great teamwork and sportsmanship to win their way through to the grand final against Poowong Consolidated Primary School. The game began with some tough competition, but the IKPS team were too strong on the day. Well done team! Pictured: Alex Maxwell, Mitch Hewitson, Tyson Bolam, Matt McCaughan, Jack Butcher and Baylee Sylvester - absent Taz Spinks, Ella Sadler, Josh Williams and Jessy Sadler. Our football team performed well in tough conditions at Mary Mackillop College on Thursday. Each player was given the opportunity to play in a variety of positions. They supported one another and learned the value of persistence and team work. All of the boys played well with particular mention to Noah Horton who pulled on the boots for the first time. Rhien Hall was tireless all over the ground but was particularly good taking overhead marks. Alex Muir and Jaras Dalmau helped out in the ruck, with great ground work by Caleb Cousins, Josh Bertacco, Jasper Dudek, Dylan Shone, Liam Suttie and both Jaxons. Luke Petterson was our main goal kicker with the highlight being a great snap over the shoulder in front of goals in the final game. Jake and Mitch Stivic provided good running all over the ground and managed to lay a few tackles to surprise the opposition. Sorry to anyone I have missed but the day was a great success. Zac Scholz worked hard all day to keep the team together. Well done to all.
