Media Contact: Dawn Kellogg Communications Manager (585) 420-2059 [email protected] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Geva Theatre Center Announces Youth Auditions for its Production of To Kill a Mockingbird Rochester, N.Y., September 15, 2015 - Geva Theatre Center will be holding auditions for young actors for its production of To Kill a Mockingbird, on Monday, October 19 and Tuesday October 20 from 3:30pm – 6pm. Callbacks will be held during the week of November 2. Roles to be cast are: o SCOUT – 8 years old, Caucasian, a tomboy, inquisitive, independent, sees the world differently from adults o JEM – 12 years old, Caucasian, Scout’s older brother and carries himself that way, wise and articulate o DILL – 10 years old, Caucasian, their friend visiting for the summer, small but brave Ages of auditionees may vary from characters’ ages. Rehearsals will begin in January at a date to be announced. Performances begin February 16 and end March 20, 2016. Children must be available during the entire rehearsal and performance period, and available to perform in 4-5 school day matinees. Young actors will get paid minimum hourly wage for children. Young actors must prepare Audition Scenes for the audition. Scenes may be memorized but not required. A slight Southern accent (Alabama) may be used. Please prepare all the scenes for the role to be auditioned – example, Scout would prepare “Scout and Jem 1,” “Scout 2” and “Scout 3.” AUDITION SCENES are posted on the Geva website under Artists/Casting www.gevatheatre.org Auditions will take place at Geva Theatre Center, 75 Woodbury Blvd, Rochester NY, 14607 and are by appointment only.
