One cold night, a tiny
snowflake fell from the
clouds. It slowly floated
down and rested upon a
mountaintop.
1
The tiny snowflake landed on his
tongue. Jose could feel the freezing
of winter, melting of spring,
evaporating of summer, and
blowing of fall. As more snowflakes
fell on him, he opened his eyes and
said, “thank you.”
14
Not just any boy, but Jose, was
on a walk. He could feel how
cold it was. He started to think
about the hot days of summer.
He closed his eyes and stuck out
his tongue.
13
A wind blew over the
mountain, and the snowflake
went twisting, spinning, and
twirling all around before
freezing in a pond.
2
Because the sun grew warmer, the
ice began to melt. The snowflake
would become a droplet of water
once again. The droplet and all of
its friends sank down into an
underground stream.
3
Again, the droplet evaporated and rose
up into the air. The wind carried it across
the sea, zig-zagging by cities, around a
spring, near a waterfall, and down by a
frozen pond. Finally, on a cold winter
night, a tiny snowflake fell from the sky.
12
Rising up to the top of the
ocean, the droplet was pulled
to the shore on top of the
waves. It rode their crests to
the sandy shore.
11
After a long journey, the droplet
made its way up through an icy
spring. The droplet went into a
stream and by those stones. It did not
stop as it washed over a waterfall. It
flowed by a big city with many
buildings and under a very old bridge.
4
Right away, a shiny metal pump
pulled the water up through
some pipes which had hoses.
Water droplets sprayed into the
air, and gave the green plants a
drink.
5
After a long dark journey, the
droplet went into the ocean. It
went by sea grass, and even into
the mouth of five giant fish
before passing through its gills.
10
Like always, a young girl twisted the
faucet, and the droplet poured into
a bathroom sink. She dipped her
hands into the water to use to rinse
her mouth. Then, it was falling fast
and spinning down the drain into
another pipe.
9
When the hot summer air
warmed up the blanket of
morning fog, the droplet slowly
evaporated. It rose up into the
open sky full of clouds.
6
The clouds were getting darker.
Lightening flashed first, then
thunder rumbled off in the distance,
and finally all of the raindrops that
had been in the clouds fell into a
reservoir of city water.
7
The droplet found its way
through a long pipe, then a
smaller pipe, and was even put
into a smaller pipe. It went up,
down, forwards and backwards,
and around and around.
