Fun with Oatmeal Containers
Fine Motor Bank
Supplies needed
Empty Oatmeal Container
Contact paper, construction paper or other decorative covering
Scissors, glue (if not using contact paper)
Lids from milk or juice jugs
Directions
Cover container with paper
Cut hole in the lid slightly larger than lids
Replace lid and show your child how to drop lids into the hole
Rolling Toy
Supplies needed
Empty oatmeal container
Twine or heavy string
Beans, buttons or beads
Super glue or duct tape
Contact paper, construction paper or other decorative covering
Markers, stickers, etc. to decorate
Directions
Punch holes in the bottom of the container and lid.
Pull twine or string through holes
Put beans, buttons, or beads inside container
Super glue the lid onto the container or seal with duct tape.
Cover the can with paper and decorate
Tie the ends of the string together.
Young children will enjoy pulling the toy around behind them
Doll or Stuffed Animal Bed
Supplies needed
Empty oatmeal container
Contact paper, construction paper or material scraps
Scissors, glue, markers
Directions
Cut oatmeal container into shape of cradle
Attach paper or material inside and out
Decorate as desired
Silly Faces
Older children will enjoy making silly faces out of recycled materials

Empty oatmeal container
Empty egg carton
Empty applesauce container
Contact paper, construction paper or other decorative covering
Tissue paper, yarn or feathers for hair
Google eyes (optional)
Feathers, jewels, materials scraps, or markers to decorate
Tape, glue, scissors
Directions
Cover oatmeal container with decorative covering
Cut and glue part of the egg carton onto the container for eyes. Use google eyes or
marker to finish eyes.
Glue tissue paper or feathers onto the container for the hair.
Glue an applesauce container on top of the lid for a hat.
Decorate with feathers, jewels, material scraps or markers
Old Fashioned Drum
Supplies needed
Empty oatmeal container
Contact paper, construction paper or other decorative covering
Wooden spoons, rhythm sticks, or other found items for drum sticks
Directions
Cover oatmeal container with decorative covering
Decorate as desired
