In week one I will learn: Who was Henry VIII?

I will be able to describe role and personality of Henry VIII

Homework: To draw a portrait of Henry

In week two I will learn: What problems did Henry VIII face?

I will be able to name and identify problem Henry VIII faced during 1527

I will be able to categorise these problems in order of severity with possible
solutions for the problems
Homework: To write a letter from Henry
VIII to his aunt asking for helping in
dealing with his problems.
In week three I will learn: How did the Christian faith differ in the 16th and 17th century?

I will be able to state the differences between Catholics and Protestants

I will be able to explain how the Christian faith differed in 16th and 17th
century

I will be able to compare differences between Puritans and main Protestants
Homework: To complete a sources
worksheet on difference between the
churches.
In week four I will learn: What was wrong with the Catholic Church in the 16th century?

I will be able to explain reasons why the English disliked the Catholic Church

I will be able to analyse how the Catholic Church was criticised before Henry’s
divorce using sources and evidence
Homework: To find out the 99 mistakes
listed by Marin Luther about the Catholic
Church.
In week five I will learn: How did Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell close the monasteries?

I will be able to recall the problems he had after his split with Rome – Pope

I will be able to justify Henry VIII’s decision on closing the monasteries using
evidence and sources
Homework: To write a newspaper article
on decision made on closing the
monasteries.
In week six I will learn: How did Henry VIII break away from the authority of the Pope?

I will be able to analyse conflicting historical sources and evidence on Henry
VIII’s break from the Pope coming to a substantial judgment
Homework: To revise and consolidate
