CLOSE SEASON FOR THE TAKING OR KILLING O F
CERTAIN KINDS O F WHALES.
N pursuance of the powers conferred on me by section ten of the
Whaling Act 1960, I, Charles Frederick Adermann, the
Minister of State for Primary Industry, hereby revoke Whaling
Notice No. 3 made under that section and published in the Gazette
on the eighteenth day of May, One thousand nine hundred and
sixty-one, and prohibit the taking from, or killing in, an area of
Australi-an waters specified in the First Schedule to this Notice, of
whales of a kind specified in the Second Schedule to this Notice
during the period from and including the first day of November in
each year to and including the next succeeding thirtieth day of
April.

1. All those waters, excluding waters that are within the territorial
limits of a State, contained within the area bounded by a line
commencing at the intersection of the parallel 21 degrees 32
minutes south latitude with the meridian 155 degrees east longitude;
thence proceeding in a straight line to the intersection of the
parallel 23 degrees south latitude with the meridian 156 degrees 35
minutes east longitude; thence proceeding in a straight line to the
intersection of the parallel 26 degrees 40 minutes south latitude
with the meridian 157 degrees 10 minutes east longitude; thence
proceeding in a straight line to the intersection to the parallel 29
degrees south latitude with the meridian 160 degrees 5 minutes

to its intersection with the Equator; thence proceeding along the
