Welcome to Lomax!
There is so much to tell you about this week. I hope you will plan
to stay today and enjoy a meal with us and hear about our visitation
program. This is a great program with a great potential. So many
times a visit or a card can make a big difference in a person’s life. If
you are the type of person who enjoys meeting people and welcoming
them to our community, then this program is for you. If you enjoy
visiting with the sick and encouraging them and praying for them,
then this is a ministry you can work. If you prefer to send cards or
make phone calls rather than make face to face visits, then you need
to be at this meeting. And if you are interested in working on your
visitation skills or you would like to do more to encourage the saints,
then the visitation program is an excellent opportunity for you. Plan
to be with us today. If you can’t make the meeting but you would still
like to hear more, please see Trent Hill or Marty Spears.
Also don’t forget the GYIDE Country Ham Breakfast this
Saturday. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal and
support Christian education at the same time. Make plans to attend
and buy your tickets today.
Our Youth Committee will meet tomorrow night to make plans
for the youth group for the coming months. If you have any ideas for
activities or are willing to host or chaperone an event, please see any
of the youth committee members. Boo Spears and Steve Edwards do
a great job of overseeing this committee.
Make it a great week by living for the Lord!

A special welcome to our guests!
We are glad to have you visiting with us today! You
are welcome here. We know you have a choice of where to
worship, and you chose to be with us today — thank you.
At Lomax we want to be the church we read about in
the Bible. Our goal is to glorify God with our worship and
with our lives and to point people to Jesus Christ.
If you need anything during the service, ushers in the
lobby can direct you to restrooms, the nursery, or a
telephone. Please do us the favor of filling out a blue card
located on the back of the pew in front of you. If you have
any questions or if we can help you, please let us know while
you are here or call 796-5381.
Today is our Visitation
reorganization. If you are
interested in finding out more
about our visitation program or
joining a visitation team,
please join us for a potluck
meal in the CSC following
morning worship.

The Richest Man In The Valley: A rich
landowner named Carl often rode around his
vast estate so he could congratulate himself on
his great wealth. One day while riding around
his estate on his favorite horse, he saw Hans, an
old tenant farmer. Hans was sitting under a tree
when Carl rode by. Hans said, “I was just
thanking God for my food.”
Carl protested, “If that is all I had to eat, I
wouldn’t feel like giving thanks.” Hans replied,
“God has given me everything I need, and I am
thankful for it.” The old farmer added, “It is
strange you should come by today because I had
a dream last night. In my dream a voice told me,
‘The richest man in the valley will die tonight.’ I don’t know what it
means but I thought I ought to tell you.”
Carl snorted, “Dreams are nonsense,” and galloped away but he could
not forget Hans’ words since he obviously was the richest man in the
valley. He even invited the doctor to his house that evening and the
doctor told him that he was as strong as a horse and that there was no way
he was going to die that night. The doctor left the next morning, but after
he left a messenger arrived at Carl’s door and the messenger explained,
“It’s about old Hans. He died last night in his sleep.”
On The Lighter Side: “Your money or your life!” cried the holdup man,
producing a pistol. “Take my life then,” said Brannigan, “For I’m saving
my money for my old age.” Also, “Mother, should I run out and mail
this letter?” “No, darling, it raining so hard that it is not fit for a dog to be
out. Let your father go.”
Sentence Sermon: A great mind is always a generous one.

Jesus makes it perfectly clear what standards will be used on Judgment
Day. Certainly we will be judged based on our obedience to basic
doctrine, but we will also face a judgment based upon how we have shown
the heart of God to those around us. How have we provided for those less
fortunate then ourselves? Have we fed the hungry and given a drink to the
thirsty? Have we clothed those who are without clothing? That is one of
the things Jesus will be looking for on Judgment Day. But He also wants
to know if we have shown the heart of God, not just to those in physical
need, but those in emotional need. Have we visited the sick and those in
prison? Have we been kind to a stranger? Have we taken care of the
widows and orphans? These questions have eternal implications.
It is the job of this congregation to fulfill these requirements. No one
individual Christian can feed all the hungry or visit everyone who needs
visiting. The church as a whole must fulfill this expectation of our Lord.
And yet, every Christian must do their part. You might not be

Lord and He expects each one of us to do it. It is how we
manifest the heart of God to those around us.
I hope you will take advantage of the opportunity that our
visitation program affords you. Many people are afraid to
visit others. In the visitation program, you can make visits
with people who are experienced and skilled at it. You can
learn to overcome your fears. Some people have the time to
write cards, but stationery and postage may be prohibitive
expenses on a fixed income. Let us provide them. If you are
interested in hearing Jesus say, “Well done,
good and faithful servant” then make sure to
