Roof Fund The balance on the 2010 term loan of €650,000 was €321,012 as at October 2015 having made repayments of €426,610. Interest to August 2015 was €97,622. Since January 2015 fifteen outdoor Roof Fund Collections after weekend Masses, along with some donations, realised just over €30,000, a figure which is attributable to the great generosity of parishioners. Roof Fund information is updated regularly on the Parish Website. Jimmy Finlay Good News Recently four adults joined our church as catechumens. Having journeyed for the past fifteen months with members of the church in a faith-sharing exercise, they decided to request full membership. There are a number of steps in this process leading to the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Catechumens are normally initiated at the Easter vigil when they receive Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion. Please pray for them. Jubilee of Mercy In a recent letter Archbishop Diarmuid Martin writes: ‘The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis will begin on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, 8 December 2015 and will conclude on the Feast of Christ the King, 20 November 2016. I hope that you can participate in this pilgrimage of mercy which will be celebrated in this Diocese in many ways over the year. Our first initiative is an invitation to cross the threshold of mercy and to experience the gift of reconciliation. This grace is offered when we reach out to those who we have offended and in turn accept the apology of others who are sorry for what they have done to us. In this way the motto for the Year – ‘Merciful Like the Father’ – will be brought to life not only in our lives but in the lives of all with whom we have contact. The season of Advent offers us many ways to prepare ourselves to meet Jesus - the face of mercy. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we have the opportunity to celebrate this encounter in a very special way. Finally I invoke the words of Pope Francis who invites us to think of Mary, Mother of Mercy. ‘May the sweetness of her countenance watch over us in this Holy Year, so that all of us may rediscover the joy of God’s tenderness’.
