UltraMate SG
®
Designed to complement soil applied baseline nutrition, Foltec products provide a
complete foliar nutrition package including N, P, K, secondary and minor elements and
other essential bio-enhancements. Foltec products are available in traditional liquid and
innovative SG (soluble granule) formulations.
UltraMate contains a combination of humic and fulvic acids which provide a variety of soil
and plant health benefits. These carbon based organic acids allow plants to utilize applied
N, P, and micronutrients more efficiently.
Roots and root hairs extend through the soil and soil solution to take up plant nutrients.
Applications of Contec DG or SmartPhos DG quickly disperse into the soil and maximize
nutrient contact and uptake by roots. This enhances nutrient efficiency and provides
flexibility in application rates.
Turfgrass managers typically encounter both sand based/constructed growing systems
and native soils. Humic DG and Black Gypsum DG are designed to improve soil structure,
increase nutrient efficiency, and stimulate beneficial soil microbes. They are also effective
in reducing the negative impact of soil sodium and salts often associated with poor quality
irrigation water.

Foltec® SG
Foltec® SG + Foltec® Minors
Leading Competitor
When compared to a leading competitor’s
program, treatments that included Foltec SG
had superior quality and color. Through this
testing it was determined that Foltec SG
provided exceptional greening of the turf
canopy within a very short period of time
following application. This quick green up
surpassed the performance of the leading
competitor and impressed researchers.
» Both Foltec® SG treatments in the study received a treatment of Contec DG® early in the season.

WINTER
SPRING

WINTER
Baseline turf nutrition is considered to be a basic level of
nutrition that helps the turf plant withstand the pressures
of disease, insects, traffic, and stressful weather conditions.
Granular nutrient applications ensure adequate levels of
plant nutrition throughout the growing season.
Determining the correct amount and balance of nutrients
is essential to turf health. Other factors to take into
consideration are the turf type, the length of growing
season, climatic conditions, and the amount of wear the turf
is exposed to.
Soil testing and plant tissue analysis are valuable tools that
can be used to develop a turf nutrition plan.
The timing and levels of turf nutrition depend on the type of
turf being grown.
PRODUCT USE BASED ON SEASONAL GROWTH HABITS
COOL SEASON TURF
Cool season turf generally requires a higher
percentage of its nutrition to be delivered in the
spring and autumn, with moderate needs during
the summer months. A Baseline Turf Nutrition Plan
includes soil-based granular applications throughout
the growing seasons. Foliar nutrition is then applied
to complement granular baseline nutrition, especially
during the summer, when turf can be under stress.
COOL SEASON TURF
SPRING
WARM SEASON TURF
Warm season turf generally requires a higher
percentage of its nutrition to be delivered during the
period of late spring through early autumn. A Baseline
Turf Nutrition Plan includes soil-based granular
applications throughout the growing season. Foliar
nutrition is then applied to complement granular
baseline nutrition.

DISPERSIBILITY
ZERO NITROGEN PRODUCTS
Because Contec DG is homogenous and disperses into
thousands of micro particles, turf managers have the ability
to apply Contec DG at low rates and still get complete
nutrient coverage without speckling.
There are times when a turf manager may need specialty
nutrient applications that do not contain nitrogen. The
following Contec DG products have been designed with
this in mind.
FORMULATIONS
• Mag-tec™ 0-0-12 with 24% magnesium. Dual release
magnesium sources with 1/3 readily available and 2/3
extended release.
With over twenty different formulations, Contec DG is designed
to meet a wide variety of turf and soil conditions. Refer to
the Product/Temperature Use Guide on page 15 for optimum
temperatures for applications of Contec DG products.
NUTRIENT SOURCES
Contec DG is formulated using the safest and highest
quality nutrient sources.
• Contec DG products have variable amounts of slow and
quick release nitrogen depending on the formulation.
MUtech® methylene urea delivers a safe, steady and
predictable nitrogen feeding. Ammonium sulfate and urea
are used when a quick nitrogen response is desired. The
amounts of MUtech slow release nitrogen in Contec DG
typically range from 50-100%.
• Kal-tec® 0-0-13 with 9.2% calcium, 2.0% magnesium and
1.5% manganese.
• 0-0-25 with 3% manganese, 4% magnesium and
bio-enhanced with amino acids for improved stress
tolerance.
A+
Contec DG when used in combination with Foltec®,
Smartphos® DG, Humic DG™, Black Gypsum DG® and
UltraMate® provides optimized turf nutrition and a strong
foundation for turf health.
• Phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium
sources are found in the Contec DG product list.
• Micronutrients are sulfate based for quick and efficient
nutrient response.
THE CARBON COMPONENT OF CONTEC DG
HOW DOES HUMIC ACID PRECURSOR WORK?
Humic acid precursor contains a soluble form of organic carbon which
releases into the soil as Contec DG granules disperse. Through biochemical
reactions in the soil, humic acid precursor is transformed into humic and
fulvic acids which help chelate nutrients in the soil. The optimum rate of
humic acid precursor is applied when Contec DG is applied at label rates.

FOLIAR NUTRITION | SOLUBLE GRANULES
SG
DIFFERENT BY DESIGN
SOLUBLE.
SENSIBLE.
SUPERB.
SOLUBLE
Foltec SG is an innovative foliar nutrient technology from The Andersons. Designed
to be different, Foltec SG will change the way superintendents and turf managers
think about complex foliar nutrition programs. Unlike industry standard liquid
fertilizers consisting of numerous formulations and packaged in cumbersome
plastic jugs, Foltec SG is a proprietary combination of dry Soluble Granules (SG)
that quickly solubilize in the spray tank. This combination of soluble granules
creates a complete nutrition product that reduces the need for a complex
tank mix using a wide variety of products. Each Foltec SG product contains
a specific N-P-K ratio along with essential micronutrients, UltraMate® SG and
sea plant extract.
Foltec SG is available in three formulations which have been shown to fit the
parameters of a typical foliar applied fertility program and include a High N,
High P, and High K formulation.
APPLICATION
Foltec SG can be introduced into the spray tank through an inductor, or by
removing the basket strainer and pouring Foltec SG directly into the spray tank,
with adequate water and agitation. In field testing with self-contained spray rigs with
typical agitation, Foltec SG solubilized quickly and thoroughly. Foltec SG products
have also been shown to be compatible with many commonly used control products.
18
PREMIUM NUTRITION
SENSIBLE
Foltec SG is innovative and is designed to be different than the standard liquid foliar fertility products in many sensible ways.
PACKAGING
Foltec SG is packaged in a resealable foil-lined bag with an easy open tear strip to save time and
effort during mixing and loading. There are no plastic jugs to triple rinse and recycle.
COVERAGE
Foltec SG is packaged based on application rate and coverage. A single 13.6 lb. bag will cover 1 acre at
the typical application rate. A case contains 3 x 13.6 lb. bags which will cover 3 acres. Please reference
the coverage table on the next page for more detail.
STORAGE
Because Foltec SG utilizes dry soluble granules, it will not freeze or
require heated storage and special handling requirements like liquid
formulations do. Foltec SG can be shipped at any time of the year
under all weather conditions.
COST
EFFECTIVE
Foltec SG is a combination of N-P-K, micronutrients, UltraMate SG and
sea plant extract which provides complete nutrition and reduces the
need to create a complex tank mix using a variety of products. The
cost in use of Foltec SG (for a typical two week interval foliar spray
program) will be comparable to other mid-tier liquid industry standards
and can also be less expensive than many other competitors.
SUPERB
N-P-K
SEA PLANT EXTRACT
Foltec SG is formulated in three of the most widely used
agronomic N-P-K ratios. High N: 24-0-8, High P: 8-24-8 and
High K: 8-0-24. These formulas can be easily combined to
create your preferred N-P-K ratio.
Foltec SG utilizes chelated micronutrients in a proven ratio
that maximizes availability, efficacy and performance.
Foltec SG contains sea plant extracts derived from the
most biologically active sea plant species in the world. They
contain a complex array of organic and mineral compounds
which include cytokinins, vitamins, sugars, enzymes and
proteins that combine together to promote improved wear
and drought tolerance. Foltec SG utilizes the proven 3:1
ratio of humic acid to sea plant extract for maximum plant
health benefits based on research conducted at Virginia
Tech University.1
ULTRAMATE® SG
COMPATIBILITY
MICRONUTRIENTS
UltraMate SG is The Andersons exclusive formulation of
soluble sulfonated potassium humate which provides
an oxidized source of carbon. UltraMate SG contains a
combination of fulvic and humic acids which allow plants
to utilize applied nutrients more effectively and efficiently.
UltraMate SG also provides a wide range of soil benefits
which include chelation of nutrients and increased uptake
of soil N and P.
Replicated bench studies with Foltec SG formulations show
excellent compatibility with the most widely used control
products for finely maintained bentgrass and bermudagrass
turf. For more details, please visit FoltecSG.com.

THE POWER OF HUMIC ACID
THE THREE HUMIC FRACTIONS
Foliar Uptake
NATURALLY DERIVED BIO-ORGANIC CARBON SOURCES
FULVIC ACIDS are lowest in
molecular weight and are the most
soluble of the three fractions. They
can be readily absorbed by turf and
roots, making them well suited for
foliar application. Fulvic acids enhance
the absorption of nutrients and the
efficiency of plant metabolic reactions.
HUMIC ACIDS are higher in molecular
Soil Uptake
HUMINS are highest in molecular
weight than fulvic acids, but lower than
humins, and are moderately soluble.
They have a high cation exchange
capacity (CEC) and are typically more
efficient as a soil application. Humic
acid molecules chelate many essential
nutrients and help stimulate soil
microbiology. Humic acids have limited
benefit as a foliar application.
weight and are the least soluble of
the three fractions. This allows them
to persist in the soil over time. They
contain high levels of carbon and have
large nutrient holding capacity. Humins
are best used through soil application.

DISPERSIBLE GRANULES
HUMIC DG™ | BLACK GYPSUM DG®
DISPERSIBLE
The Andersons Dispersing Granule (DG) Technology creates
spherical, dust free, and ultra dry particles. These granules rapidly
disperse upon contact with soil moisture, creating tens of thousands
of microparticles, which greatly increases surface area and allows
for faster breakdown and availability of the humic substances.
SPREADABLE
DG Technology creates uniform, spherical granules that are
clean, dust free, and easy to handle (left). DG granules can be
spread evenly and consistently. Competitor’s dry humic acid
product is dusty, non-uniform and contains up to 20% moisture,
making it hard to handle and difficult to spread (right).
BLENDABLE
DG granules are designed to be ultra dry, which allows for
successful blending with all types of dry fertilizers, including urea.

ULTRAMATE® LQ
CONVENIENT
UltraMate LQ forms a complete solution when
added directly to liquid fertilizer, micronutrient,

to increase nutrient availability.
FLEXIBLE
The compatibility of our UltraMate LQ allows
it to be either soil or foliar applied through
a variety of application equipment including
sprayers, tank mixes, fertigation, injectors, drip
irrigation, and other liquid applicators.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How does the humic acid content of Humic DG
granules compare to other liquid and dry humic acid
products?
A: As a granular soil amendment with 70% humic
acid (A&L method), Humic DG granules compare
favorably to dry, granular, and powdered humic acid
products. The humic acid is more effective in the soil
than most of the competitive products due to the
self-incorporating microparticles that provide greater
surface area for soil activity and contain all three
humic fractions.
Q: How does humic acid affect nitrogen volatilization?
A: The high reactivity of humic acid retains the nitrogen
in the ammonium form, preventing it from volatilizing
to ammonia and not being utilized by the plant.
Q: Do humic acids influence phosphorus activity in the soil?
A: Yes, increased phosphorus availability has been
observed in academic studies. Humic acid impacts
both short-term and long-term phosphorus availability.

FEATURING EXCLUSIVE HELICAL CONE TECHNOLOGY
The Andersons Model 2000 and Model 2000 SR professional spreaders include
our innovative helical cone technology. The helical cone, located above the impeller,
can be adjusted to place the fertilizer at the correct location on the impeller to
provide an even spread pattern. The helical cone allows for even spreading of all
sizes of fertilizer granules, and it is only available from The Andersons.

Diversification,
Growth,
Publicly traded since 1996 (NASDAQ: ANDE), The Andersons is a diversified
company conducting business across North America in the grain, ethanol,
plant nutrient and logistics sectors.
The Andersons is taking the same dedication and deep market knowledge
that filled our elevators with grain almost 70 years ago to create fresh ways to
serve our customers. We’re building a cutting edge network of transportation
and logistics facilities that maximize our reach. We’re expanding into new
markets using patented technology to take our businesses further, faster.
We’re developing a line of products that make the grass greener and the yield
bigger. We’re repurposing today’s resources into useful solutions for tomorrow
and joining the quest for a world run on renewable energy. We’re finding a
way to compete on a global level and still feel like a small business, and never
losing sight of our simple goal of serving God by serving others.
We’ll be fair and honest, tried and true, because those are the things that got
us here. The Andersons story has as much to do with ingenuity as it does with
legacy. A story about enduring relationships. A story about a team that is
going beyond the ordinary; beyond the status quo; and beyond expectations.
Our Mission:
We firmly believe that our Company is a powerful vehicle through which we channel our
time, talent, and energy in pursuit of the fundamental goal of serving God by serving others.
Through our collective action, we greatly magnify the impact of our individual efforts to:
• Provide extraordinary service to our customers
• Help each other improve
• Support our communities
• Increase the value of our Company
