Alla was a founder and the past President & CEO of Principle Power Inc., her second
start-up that was established in late 2007. Principle Power is the developer of the
WindFloat, a deepwater floating support structure for offshore wind turbines.
In 2006 Ms. Weinstein founded the European Ocean Energy Association and served as
its first President through 2010. The Association, located at the Renewable Energy
House in Brussels, Belgium, is promoting and bringing public awareness to the benefits
of Ocean Energy.
In 2001, Ms. Weinstein decided to take on the entrepreneurial challenge in a renewable
energy because it combined her lifelong interests and experience in science, technology
and climate change with her successful business expertise. That year she co-founded
AquaEnergy Group Ltd., a wave energy conversion technology development company.
She served as CEO & President of AquaEnergy till Finavera Renewables, a TSX-V listed
public company, acquired the company in 2006, where she served on the board until an
exit in 2007.
Ms. Weinstein’s successful career began at Honeywell Inc. and spanned over 21 years,
where she held positions of a General Manager, International Business Development
Director, Program Manager and Systems Engineer in military and commercial aviation.
After leaving Honeywell in 1998, she was an independent consultant assisting
companies from the former Soviet Union to enter worldwide commercial aviation
markets.
Alla Weinstein is an engineer and a business professional with over 35 years of industry
experience. She has extensive knowledge in working with emerging technologies,
international markets, energy policies and governments. She holds a Bachelor of
Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA
from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management.
João Metelo
Principle Power, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Metelo has over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, having held
several executive and leading roles with special focus in finance areas such as
M&A, Financing, Strategic Planning and Control. Prior to joining Principle Power,
Mr. Metelo was an Executive Vice President and previously Chief Financial
Officer of EDP Renewables North America, having managed and raised several
billions of dollars in financings and grants. While working for EDP, Mr. Metelo
managed several large M&A transactions such as the acquisition of Horizon
Wind Energy from Goldman Sachs as well as multiple other transactions in
renewables and conventional power plants and electric distribution in multiple
countries. Earlier in his career he worked in finance with a focus on debt
financing and management, namely loans, bonds, commercial paper and credit
facilities programs. Mr. Metelo holds a Degree in Economics from Nova
University, Lisbon and has completed an Advanced Management Program at the
University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
