AVENSIS 2016 ANNUAL TECHNICAL FEST OF MAHARAJA SURAJMAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology successfully organized Avensis – The Annual Fest of MSIT on 3rd and 4th February, 2016. The event was a phenomenal success in all aspects and witnessed massive footfall in all the events that were held in the 2-day extravaganza. This was made possible by the hardwork, dedication and the efforts put in by all the student volunteers who worked day in, day out to make Avensis 2016 an unprecedented success. About SMES Inspired by the life and ideals of Maharaja Surajmal, a great Indian patriot and enlightened ruler of Bharatpur during the eighteenth century, Surajmal Memorial Education Society was established in 1972 and registered under Societies Registration Act 1860. The main aim of the Society is to disseminate quality education in the technical and professional areas, especially those beneficial to the students from rural and hitherto educationally traditionally deprived regions of our country. To achieve these objectives, The Surajmal Memorial Education Society has established Maharaja Surajmal Institute at Janakpuri, New Delhi. The membership of SMES is spread over all parts of India. However, the main component is from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. Under the leadership and guidance of its president, Shri S.P.Singh, the Society looks forward to expand its educational programmes in the newly emerging areas and to serve as a participant in the efforts to develop appropriate human resources for the country’s development. The Avensis team managed to raise sponsorship worth Rs. 10,00,000 in-kind and monetary funds worth Rs. 1,75,000 by a number of reputed companies including Accenture, ONGC, Zebronics, Punjab National Bank, Burger King etc. On 3rd February 2016, the day started with blessings from god by organizing havan ceremony in the college’s main ground followed by the official opening ceremony in seminar hall in presence of college’s Director, Director(Placements), Director General, Secretary and Treasurer. Emphasizing the moto “Tamso maa jyotir gamya”, lamp was lighted to declare the fest open. The gross footfall of the event surpassed previous years’ records and a mass participation over 3000 students from various esteemed colleges across Delhi-NCR including some prestigious institutes like IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, Sri Ram College of Commerce, St. Stephens’ College, Netaji Subash Institute of Technology, Delhi Technological University and Hindu College. Competitive events were organized in five departments, namely: Fun & Creative, Quizzes, Technical, Robotics and Literary. The fest was supported by a number of other teams including Creativity, Publicity, Sponsorship, Photography and the Discipline team. A total of 44 events were organized and the best event from each category are as following: Movielicious from Fun & Creative, Hackathon from Technical, Voice Of Nation from Literary, Carnage from Robotics. After having two days of extravaganza on 3rd and 4th Feb. 2016, closing ceremony was organized on 6th Feb. 2016 which included prize distribution, acknowledging the team and faculty.
