Mission & Impact
Statements
Mission
The lodge operates a summer camp program for underprivileged children at its facility in Wilson County, on Old
Hickory Lake. Through the camp, we seek to develop team building and break down cultural barriers and
stereotypes children may believe about police officers.
Background
Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 5 has a long history of working with underprivileged children in the community.
These service-project programs are funded by donations from the community we serve. The funds are obtained
from ticket sales to the Policeman’s Ball and other fund raisers through out the year.
Impact
The 35 acre property has been developed into a site that has a pool, bunk house, mess hall, ball field and lake
access. The weeklong curriculum of activities is geared to develop team building and break down cultural
barriers. The counselors are all police officers working in conjunction with the city to break the stereotype these
children normally have of police officers. The camp serves 300 children per summer, on average. Our
Shop With a Cop Program serves 60 children per year.
Needs
We need funding for our programs. We are a non-profit organization, and every donation goes toward our
Programs. Monetary donations may be sent to:
440 Welshwood Drive
Suite 100
Nashville, TN 37211
We also need supplies for the summer camp, including bath & hand soaps, shampoos, conditioners,
sunblock, twin bedding, towels and washcloths.
For the Shop With a Cop Program, we need supplies such as wrapping paper, tape, and name tags.

Description
As in the past 17 years, this annual event is held at the Rivergate WalMart store. The program provides each child with between $250-$300 to
buy much needed clothing, personal items, and gifts for themselves and
family members. Funding for the program is provided by the FOP,
donations to the FOP Camp, and Wal-Mart itself. About 60 children
participate in this event every year.
Your brother and sister FOP members from the six summer camps select
the kids. From these camps, a list of four kids is selected as the ones who
may not be the best campers, but the ones with the greatest need for
help. Once selected, the kids are brought to Wal-Mart by police officers
and the officers actually shop with the kids as they pick out gifts for
members of their family. The gifts are then wrapped by the officers and
family members of the officers. While the gifts are being wrapped, WalMart provides a meal for kids.
This annual program seems to give the officers and their families a way to
give back to the community by helping the ones who would normally not
be able to help themselves. The kids are more than thankful for being able
to do something for their family.
