HYMN He Lives (UMH 310)

HYMN
He Lives (UMH 310)
1. I serve a risen Savior, he’s in the world today;
I know that he is living, whatever foes may say.
I see his hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer,
And just the time I need him, he’s always near.
Refrain:
He lives, he lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, he lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know he lives? He lives within my heart.
2. In all the world around me I see his loving care,
and though my heart grows weary, I never will despair.
I know that he is leading through all the stormy blast;
the day of his appearing will come at last.
(Refrain)
3. Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
eternal hallelujas to Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek him, the help of all who find;
none other is so loving, so good and kind.
(Refrain)

WORDS OF WELCOME
from Isaiah 25:6-9
Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed!
OPENING PRAISE
Up from the Grave He A rose
(UMH 322)
1. Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord?
Refrain: Up from the grave he arose;
With a mighty triumph o’er his foes;
He arose a victor from the dark domain,
And he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
2. Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,
vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!
(Refrain)
3. Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;
he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!
(Refrain)
CALL TO WORSHIP
Listen! Hear the remarkable Good News to which we bear witness.
Our Savior who was dead is alive!
Christ is risen!
Our Beloved, betrayed, abandoned, crucified and buried, is alive again!
Christ is risen!
The power of death and fear are broken and no longer hold us captive
because Christ lives!
Christ is risen!
The power of God's love cannot be destroyed. Christ is victorious.
Let us celebrate this most joyful of all days! Christ IS risen!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
UNISON PRAYER
O Lord, your wondrous birth means nothing unless we are born again;
your death and sacrifice mean nothing unless we die to sin;
your resurrection means nothing if you be risen alone.
We know that we are sinners, Lord God; we cannot rid ourselves of our
bent to sinning; so we admit our need for a Savior – our need for the
crucified and risen Jesus Christ. Only you, Lord, can take our sins
from us and give us new birth.
Raise us and exalt us, O Savior, now to the state of grace, and
hereafter to the state of glory; where with the Father and the Holy
Spirit you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
ACCOUNT OF THE RESURRECTION

MESSAGE

“Share the Joy”
RESURRECTION PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
EASTER AFFIRMATION AND CONFESSION OF FAITH
(based on 1 Cor 15 & Col 1)
This is the good news which we have received,
in which we stand, and by which we are saved:
Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day,
and appeared first to the women, then the Disciples,
and then to many faithful witnesses.
We believe in Jesus the Christ, the Anointed One of God,
the firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead,
in whom all things hold together, in whom the fullness of God was
pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit.
Christ is the head of the body, the church, and by the blood of the cross
reconciles all things to God. Amen.
