2013 Milk Jug Raft Race

Spring 2013
Ahoy Mate!
It’s time to get your team ready for the ever popular RIVERDAYS Milk Jug Raft Race! Be part
of a crew to promote your organization and activities and to support recycling. The Midland
Area Community Foundation and Midland Recyclers are sponsoring the race.
Get your blueprints ready and start building your raft for the race. Rafts must be constructed
using milk jugs or any other type of reusable or recyclable materials as the primary source of
flotation. (Please use materials that would have ended up in the landfill or at the recycling
center to stay in keeping with the ideals of waste reduction, reuse and recycling!) Prizes will
be awarded to the team with the fastest raft, best use of recycled materials and most
creative raft. And, don’t forget the “Milk Dud” and duct tape awards! The race will be held
on Saturday, July 20th at 3 p.m.
This year we are offering an opportunity for those of you that don’t want to take the time to
build your own raft. There will be a limited number of milk jug rafts, for an additional fee,
ready for you to decorate that day and race.
The race is open to community groups, organizations, businesses, families and individuals. We
are encouraging friendly competitions. If you have a rival group or organization, let us know
and we will issue a challenge! See enclosed rules and regulations and registration form.
Please contact me for more information.
On your Mark, Get Ready . . . Get Set . . . Go!
