Sacrament of Marriage
A couple wishing to be married
in St. Patrick Parish must contact
the parish six months prior
to the intended wedding date.
What do we celebrate today? Some say it’s Palm
Sunday, and that we commemorate the Lord’s joyful
entrance into Jerusalem. Carrying palms, we honor the
LORD with Hosannas. Others call it Passion Sunday, and
that we remember Jesus’ suffering and death on the
Cross. We hear the entire Passion narrative presented
almost like a play. By using our imaginations we visualize
the LORD endure his agony in the garden. We watch
Pilate sentence him to death. We hear soldiers scourge
and mock him. Our mood changes from jubilation to
grief. So begins Holy Week, the culmination of six weeks of
Lenten fasting, prayer, almsgiving and special devotions.
What do you do with your blessed palms? Many put
them on the wall behind the crucifix in their home. Others
weave them into various shapes and display them
appropriately. Like all the holy objects in our homes, the
palms are meant to remind us of some aspect of our faith;
in this case, Jesus’ triumph over sin and death.
Holy Week also includes the Sacred Triduum: Holy
Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. How might we
make the most of this week? We can contemplate the
events of Jesus’ Passion, Death, and Resurrection through
the eyes of the person who most loved him, his mother
Mary. With Mary we watch Jesus dragging his heavy Cross
to Calvary; we are with her at the foot of the Cross when
Jesus dies; and we help her take Jesus’ body down from
the cross and lay him in the tomb. In the end we rejoice
with Mary on Easter!

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
ALL PARISHIONERS ARE REMINDED THAT TODAY IS PANCAKE SUNDAY
Today is also Palm Sunday, and although we Christians know that it is the prelude to Christ’s
Passion and Death, it was also a joyous day when Jesus entered triumphantly into the Holy City
of Jerusalem. Since next Sunday is Easter, the Day of Resurrection, we are holding our monthly
Pancake Breakfast today. In the spirit of this very Holy Day join us after either the 8:00 or 10:00
Mass. Come over to Gurnell Hall, where we Brother Knights are waiting to serve all of you a
fabulous, delicious breakfast of Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Ham Slices, and Sausage Links.
Please come and join your friends for a nice Palm Sunday Breakfast. We hope that our Hispanic
friends and fellow parishioners will also join us for this joyous occasion, where we can come
together as a united congregation, and enjoy each others’ camaraderie. Adults will be charged
only $5.00, children under 12 are $2.00, and large families of 5 or more will be charged $20.00.
Next Sunday, Easter Sunday, the Knights will be sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt, so be sure to
bring the Little Ones over to Gurnell Hall for a fun time. For further information, please contact
Brother Knight Jerry Motak at 530.626.9694, and he will advise you as to time and whatever
particulars you need to know concerning this fun time for the whole family.
Brothers, please remember that next Thursday, April 17th, the Officers Meeting is scheduled
to take place in the Lobby, Gurnell Hall, starting at 5:30 PM. There are many things pending
in the near future, so please mark your calendars. Your advice and input is always appreciated,
and needed.

LADIES SOCIETY
Such a grand and glorious send off for such a beautiful lady, Joan Delfino. She
is sorely missed. How wonderful to see over five hundred people in our church
remembering her! We should continue to remember her family who remain
with us. Please keep Edio and all his family in our prayers.
I especially wish to thank Kelly Tigue and all the Ladies Society members who
helped her make the reception for Joan such a memorable celebration of Joan’s
life. Like Father John, I always praise our ladies — they always come through.

SPRING SESSION OF SEASONS OF HOPE
NEW SERIES BEGINNING APRIL 24, 2014
Everyone who is in Bereavement feels they have to walk the road by themselves. It is true that the
experience is a unique and personal adventure. However, when done in the company of others
who have had this experience, everyone has support and is able to experience GRIEF RECOVERY.
The “Seasons of Hope” is a 6-week program that can provide a safe place to come, talk about your
loss in confidence with others who have been or are going through this experience and find that
you are not alone. The new Spring Sessions begin April 24th, the first Thursday following
Easter Sunday, and run through May 29th.
THE NEW TIME: 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. in Classrooms 3 & 4.
Pre-registration is necessary so that a sufficient number of materials are ordered and on hand for
the first meeting. If you have questions or wish to register, call Carol Davis, 530-748-9337 or leave
a message at the Church Office.
