Note that there is a slight difference between how the standings are listed on the GVGS website and
how they were determined for the final standings for the season.
The website sorts these standings in the following order:
 games behind (GB) - see note 1 below
 winning percentage (Pct),
 wins (W).
This sort is not sufficient to rank the teams unambiguously.
Our traditional sort and tiebreakers consist of:
 winning percentage (Pct),
 head-to-head,
 Runs allowed (RA),
 Coin flip
Given that the Senior league teams do not have the opportunity to play all other senior league teams,
the head-to-head tiebreakers doesn't come into play that often.
Note 1
To calculate Games Behind (GB), you would:
1) Subtract the number of wins of the non-first place team from the number of wins of the first place
team.
2) Subtract the number of losses of the first place team from the number of losses of the non-first place
team.
3) Add those two numbers together and divide by 2. This gives you the number of 'games behind'.
GB = (1stWins - non1stWins) + (non1stLosses - 1stLosses))/2
Note 2
Winning Percentage (Pct) is defined as wins divided by wins plus losses (i.e. — the total number of
matches). Ties count as a ½ loss and a ½ win. Pct = (Wins + (.5*Ties))/Games Played.
