Landform and Waterform Project Details: In class, you will research the landform or waterform of your choice using NC Wise Owl and the links on that site. Your chosen land or waterform: ________________________ Requirements for research: You will label an index card with the following titles: ­ Description/How they Form ­ One “famous” example (label the card with it’s name and write facts describing it on your card) ­ Where in the world? ­ Food Chain ­ Sources These cards are where you will take your notes. You MAY NOT copy complete sentences. The notes written on the card must be short phrases in your own words. Requirements for the Project: At School: ­ Research and take notes on your index cards. ­ Mark on a world map various places where your water/landform is located. ­ Print out a picture showing what your landform looks like. ­ Create a food chain of the animals that live in your water or landform. ­ Be prepared to teach us about your landform based on your research (No time requirement, just talk until you’ve told us about all the parts of your project. If you forget to tell us something, I will ask you about it.) ­ At our museum, be prepared to answer questions about your water or landform. At Home: ­ Create something 3 dimensional to teach us about your landform, including some wildlife and vegetation. (Use your Famous Example card to get info in making it!) ­ Prepare to give your speech to our class using your map, food chain, picture and model to explain what you’ve found out about your land/waterform. PRACTICE! Due Dates: Cards, Map and Food Chain Due Date: Monday, March 24 Cards must be completed based on rubric requirements. Final Model Due Date: April 13 All projects must be at school by this date! *You may turn your project in and do your class presentation as soon as you get it finished if you finish before the final due date. Museum will be held: April 17 Landform and Waterform Rubric (This will be used to determine your final project grade.) You will receive 3 report card grades for this project. (You do not need to have everything from your food chain, just a couple of examples that you can point to when you’re telling us about your food chain.) 2nd Grade: ____/100 Presentation Requirements: *You may use your cards to help you remember your facts, but your presentation is much better if you don’t need to, so practice! *You may NOT write out what sentences you are going to say and just read from your paper. ___/10 Told us about Description Card facts. ___/10 Told us about How It Is Formed Card facts. ___/10 Showed us on the world map various places in the world where the landform or water type is located.
