SuperGold Card
The SuperGold Card is a discounts and concessions card for seniors and veterans, in recognition of their contribution to
New Zealand society.
Who can get a SuperGold Card?
You are eligible to receive a SuperGold Card if you are:
• 65 years or over and legally and ordinarily resident in New Zealand
• under 65 years and receive the Non-Qualified Spouse or Partner rate of NZ Super or Veteran’s Pension
• under 65 years and currently receive the Veteran’s Pension.
If you are not legally and ordinarily resident in New Zealand, you will not qualify to receive a card.
“Ordinarily resident” means someone who is normally and lawfully resident in New Zealand and intends to stay here.
How do you apply for a SuperGold Card?
If you are granted NZ Super, a Veteran’s Pension or a main benefit at age 65 or over you will automatically be sent a
SuperGold Card. If not you can complete a SuperGold Card Application Form and send it to us. You can download one
from www.supergold.govt.nz, or ring us on 0800 25 45 65 to have a form sent to you.
With the SuperGold Card you can get:
• discounts and offers from thousands of businesses nationwide across a wide range of categories visit
www.supergold.govt.nz to search through the SuperGold online discount directory.
• access to the government funded free off-peak public transport concessions
If you are a SuperGold Card holder you can travel for FREE on Auckland’s scheduled public transport services after
9am weekdays, all day weekends and public holidays*. If you are travelling before 9am weekdays, you must pay
the full adult fare. You must have your SuperGold Card with you when you travel.
• If you are travelling by bus just present a valid SuperGold Card to the bus driver (telling them how far you are
travelling).
• If you are travelling by train you’ll need to get a free SuperGold ticket from the Ticket & Top Up machine at the
train station or get an AT HOP Card loaded with your SuperGold profile.
• If you are travelling by ferry present your SuperGold Card or AT HOP Card loaded with your SuperGold profile
to the ferry ticket agent.
