LITTORALIS, created in 2000, is a European Economic Interest Group federating various
companies and research facilities uniting innumerable years of maritime experience.
This grouping of specialized companies, is acting as a One Stop Shop service and
technology provider tailored to the needs of operational oceanography and applications
to:
Integrated Coastal Zones management (ICZM)
Natural risks management
Management of pollutions & water quality
Protection and management of coasts
ACTIVITY
Ports development & management
Offshore exploitation & marine renewable energies
LITTORALIS focuses thus on a wide “coastal zone” area that encompasses the entire
catchment area and its activities, pure coastal zone (shoreline, bays, estuaries), and

coastal seas generally considered as truly coastal waters and beyond covering the EEZ .
On a second level, LITTORALIS works on coastal oceanography and all issues of ICZM on a
global approach.
Its objectives regarding international cooperation: Building up capacities and
cooperation as joint ventures with academic and private partners providing solutions to
coastal problems, i.e. erosion – sedimentation and erosion, flooding, pollution - water
quality - environmental protection, surveillance (meteocean and illegal fishing), training
and technology transfer.
