Crane Leadership Scholars 2010-2011
Agni Chandora
Agni Chandora, a junior from Snellville, GA, is pursuing a dual degree – a
bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master of Public Health with a
concentration in Health Policy and Management. On campus, she serves
as president of the Foundation of the International Medical Relief of
Children, whose mission is to raise awareness and money for children
living in impoverished areas with inadequate healthcare.
Through the Association of Women in Science, she conducts an afterschool program consisting of science experiments at Oglethorpe Avenue
Elementary School. Agni is also currently an ambassador for the Franklin
College of Arts and Sciences and in 2010 served as an Alternative Spring
Break site leader to Houston, Texas to lead a volunteering effort focused
on immigrant and refugee families.
Due to her medical interests, Agni has been involved with research on breast cancer drug development,
and as a Roosevelt Scholar, she has also conducted research on and written a policy proposal regarding
the U.S. primary care physician shortage. She is currently interning with One Athens Health, a
community-based health initiative and also spends time volunteering at Athens Regional Medical
Center.
After graduation, Agni hopes to attend medical school and pursue a career combining medicine and
health management.
Sara Intner
Born in Atlanta, GA, Sara Intner is a third-year
Honors student at UGA majoring in Biology and
Psychology. She serves on the UGA Alternative
Spring Break (ASB) Executive Board as the Site
Leader Coordinator. In 2009, she attended an ASB
trip to Clinton, SC, volunteering with children who
had been removed from their homes in an
attempt to build a stable family life. In 2010, she
led an ASB trip to Shady Valley, TN, working
toward preserving the local nature conservatory.
Sara’s biggest undertaking as an undergraduate student was chairing UGA Idol, an annual, campus-wide
event. All of the proceeds from this philanthropic event go to ugaMiracle benefitting the Children’s
Miracle Network and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Currently, Sara is conducting research in a microbiology lab at UGA. The research is focused on Shigella
flexneri, a bacteria responsible for shigellosis, especially in developing countries. Aside from service,
Sara is a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the premedical honor society.
Bringing together her passions for service and medicine, Sara travelled to the Dominican Republic with
International Service Learning organization to provide relief to the underserved people there as well as
Haitians affected by the 2010 earthquake. After graduating, Sara hopes to attend medical school and
earn an MD.
Shayna Pollock
Shayna Pollock is a junior from Atlanta, GA. She is dual
majoring in Environmental Economics and Management
and Political Science. Shayna hopes to shape the future of
urbanism through policy and planning. While in Athens,
she serves as a Center Director for the Roosevelt Institute,
a student-run think tank, and she volunteers at Bike
Athens.
She also interned at the Carl Vinson Institute of
Government in the Environmental Policy Department and
for the Athens Land Trust. To further her work with urban
policy, Shayna participates in undergraduate research
through her examination of the effectiveness of building
policies that encourage LEED development.
In the interest of expanding transportation alternatives, she spent last summer as a Roosevelt Fellow at
the Chicago Transit Authority working on expanding multi-modal connections. She is currently
participating in the DC Semester Program as a policy intern for CEOs for Cities, a civic lab of urban
leaders. She plans to pursue a Masters in Urban Planning and JD and she aspires to promote more
effective planning regulation throughout the country.
Brianna Randall
Brianna Randall is a third-year Marketing major and Theatre and Film Studies minor from Macon, GA.
Brianna is a Leonard Leadership Scholar, Management Leadership for Tomorrow Career Prep Fellow,
and Historian of the Palladia Women’s Honor Society. She has also served as a Dawg Camp Counselor,
Secretary of the Tate Society, and Co-Captain of the University of Georgia Mock Trial Team.
In the summer of 2010, Brianna traveled to Siem Reap, Cambodia to study Khmer haggling and moneymaking strategies and, thereafter, interned in Washington, DC as a Communications Intern for the
National Geographic Society. This summer, she plans to tour apparel and soft goods factories in China,
then intern in Customer Business Development with Procter & Gamble. Ultimately, Brianna hopes to
earn her MBA and pursue a career in brand management and new product development.
