Department of Enterprise Digital Marketing & Graphic Design Assistant Job Description Reporting Relationships Responsible to: Managed by: E-Marketing Manager Marketing Manager Job Purpose To provide a professional level internal graphic design service to support the marketing team and curriculum areas in the development and production of high quality, innovative materials. There will be additional duties in supporting the E-Marketing Manager in the development of graphic content for the website, social networks, mobile apps and other external websites. Duties and Responsibilities Provide a professional level internal graphic design service to support the marketing team in the development and production of high quality, innovative promotional and other related materials on behalf of the College Design, prepare, upload and amend content to the College website and associated media, keeping abreast of the latest trends and technologies to assist the E-Marketing Manager in ensuring the College is at the forefront of this practice Liaise with the Enterprise Hub Co-ordinator and relevant curriculum staff to promote and enable the involvement of creative media students in the design, development and production of design and media content for use in College promotional materials and social digital media Liaise with external organisations in moving from design to production (printing) at the highest quality level and achieve the best value for money within project specification and deadline Design and deploy high quality, innovative content for the digital screens across the College and at external events Assist the marketing team with promotional activities across the College Shadow and assist other members of the marketing team to gain knowledge and understanding of the whole marketing department The above list is neither exhaustive or exclusive, and the post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties within his / her capability and experience that may be relevant and necessary to fulfil the post effectively. Havering College of Further and Higher Education Department of Enterprise Digital Marketing & Graphic Design Assistant Person Specification Requirements Educational attainment Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes required Circumstances Essential Higher Level qualification in Graphic Design Level 4 qualification in web design and/or social and digital media or proven ability and experience in the use of social media in a business context Ability to produce innovative graphic and digital content to a professional standard for use across a variety of media Ability to interpret customer needs in a proactive manner, suggesting innovative and alternative ways of achieving their objects in order to maintain a new and fresh approach while maintaining corporate standards Excellent inter-personal and communication (written and oral) skills Good negotiation skills Some understanding of managing print costs and budgeting Able to work as part of a team and be a good team player Willingness to learn new skills and consistently keep up to date with new technology Able to work with a wide range of people at different levels, including internal and external colleagues and students Capable of working under pressure Excellent timekeeping skills Excellent attention to detail Able to maintain quality outputs within tight deadlines Views success in relation to team’s success Willingness and ability to travel between sites and external events if necessary Willingness and ability to be flexible in working hours Havering College of Further and Higher Education Department of Enterprise Digital Marketing & Graphic Design Assistant Conditions of Service Contract: Permanent Annual Leave: Full time leave entitlement is 24 days per annum. (Adjusted accordingly for part time roles) Standard public holidays are in addition to this. The leave year runs st st from 1 September to 31 August. Hours of Employment: 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Please note this is a fixed term role and will terminate automatically when existing member of staff returns. Salary: £16,403p.a. Salaries are paid monthly on the last working day of the month. You will be required to have an account with a bank or building society, which can accept a direct credit transfer. Probationary Period: 6 months. Location: Staff are required to work on any site as required. Smoking: A No Smoking Policy is in operation throughout the College. Termination: 1 month’s written notice on either side. Medical Report: Upon appointment, you will be required to complete a Medical Questionnaire and may be required to undergo a medical examination. DBS Check: An enhanced DBS check is required for all posts within the College before you start work. References: The appointment is subject to two references, which are satisfactory to us. Appointment subject to: The conditions of service for Support Staff as recommended by the College’s Employer’s Forum as adopted by the College’s Governing Body. Pension: A pension scheme is in operation through the Local Government Pension Scheme, but persons appointed may make their own arrangements. The contribution rate for the LGPS is variable between 5.5% and 7.5% of your Gross salary, dependent on your earnings, deducted on a monthly basis. Representation: The College recognises UNISON as the appropriate Trade Union for raising matters of staff concern. Car Allowances: A staff travel and subsistence policy is in operation at the College and staff travelling between sites and on College business can claim a mileage rate for using their car. The College does not operate a car loan scheme. Additional Employment: Staff are not allowed to engage as an employee, consultant, partner, proprietor or director in any other business without the prior written consent of the Principal.
