Here at the Rock, the time is flying by quicker than we would like. Before the New Year is upon us, I wanted to extend an offer to our 3rd and 4th grade students to participate in Future Chefs challenge. This is a national competition. The underlying philosophy of this competition is to help educate the kids in healthy eating habits. Please look for more detailed information on this coming home next week. I would like to recognize Mrs. Lawry’s 2nd graders for being hardworking and let them know how proud I am of them. Collectively they reached an alltime best today! We are very lucky to get to see 450 students at one time and feel their combined joy and youthful excitement about this time of the year. The students are looking forward to spending time with family, being a part of long-standing family traditions and possibly starting some new ones! December is always a personal time of reflections for me, and this year I can’t stop thinking how lucky I am to be here at Shamrock Springs. The type of people I am blessed to work with truly make it a joy to come to work. It never ceases to amaze me just how amazing the kids and teachers are in this building. As we get closer to our holiday break, I encourage you to find the time for “the best things in life.” You won’t regret it! Caring Kids Club has begun a food drive! This is a chance for Shamrock Springs to give food to other families who need it, right here in Westfield! Starting on Monday, December 10th, and ending on Friday, December 14th, each grade level will have a certain kind of food to bring. There will be boxes in each hallway where students and parents can place the food. Here’s what’s needed: Kindergarten – boxed breakfast foods, syrup, and jelly. First – boxed potatoes and rice. Second – Canned pasta and sauce (like Spaghettios and Ravioli). Third – Canned meat (like tuna and chicken). Fourth – Canned fruits and juices. Every single box, can, and bottle of food brought in helps a family in need, right here in our community!
