All Church Prayer Time - Pennway Church of God

All Church Prayer Time
August 5, 2015
(During this time of prayer, feel free to sit, to kneel at the altar, walk around sanctuary, go to prayer table, etc.)
Tonight we will use the ACTS acrostic for our guide – Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication
A – Adoration
- Begin by picturing God in all his greatness above all the earth, in all of creation, ruler of all, and full of all
power and all love. Picture Him on his throne and you are entering his throne room – What will you say to
Him? What about God do you really like and appreciate? Tell God whatever you think of – express your praise
to Him. If you think of a hymn (find in hymnal) or song of praise and remember the words, pray that to Him.
- Read Psalm 103 and praise God for all that He does for us and all that He has given to us.
C – Confession
- Is there anything that you have thought, done, or said this last week or recently that comes to mind which is
not pleasing to God? Take time to confess that to God. No matter what it might be, God will forgive you.
- Read I John 1:9 – “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.” - Let Him do that for you. Take some time to do a personal inventory – Is God leading
you in some new directions? Check your attitudes. Do they need to change? What about your thoughts, your
words, your actions? In whatever areas you fall short, bring that to God and ask forgiveness, but look at the
changes that God desires and pray for His help to mold you daily.
T – Thanksgiving
- Think over this last month and all that God has done for you and our church, and take time to tell God about
at least 10 specific things for which you are thankful. Express thanks to God for the new families in our church
and for the people who have received Jesus into their lives these last few weeks. Thank Him for other things
that come to mind and for all that He has planned for you.
- Pray Romans 11:33-36
S – Supplication
- Personal needs – What burdens are you carrying? No matter what they might be, bring them to God –
Remember I Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
- Other’s physical needs: Pray for God’s healing, standing on the promises of James 5:15 – “And the prayer
offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up”
- Ray Kimball – cancer on his brain – doing radiation, Don Hein – cancer in his bones, Marian Watts –
fell and broke her hip – in rehab, Paula Smith’s rehabbing from surgery, Laura Breese – pain in foot
- Other’s spiritual needs: Pray for at least 3 friends at church specifically that they might grow closer to Jesus
Spend some time in concentrated prayer for at least 3 people you know that need to come to know Jesus.
Think about ways you might invite them to something here at church this year. Pray that God will
speak to their hearts and that God will help you do whatever you can to help them see a God that loves
them. Read Ephesians 6:19-20 and pray that God will help you talk to others about God. Pray that we might
continue to see people make commitments to God each week in our services. Pray that these new believers
might be discipled and helped along the journey and pray about your role in that process of growth.
- Ministries of the church:
- New Fall programming – get a good start, Pastor Becky back from Maternity leave, Pastor James as he
gets small group leaders and works on a core for the new service, people saved.
- Spend some time doing spiritual battle for our church.
Read Acts 2:42-48 and pray that our church might become like that. Pray that we might be one; that we
might resist the evil one and be completely open to whatever God might have for us; that individuals will come
to know and/or grow closer to God during this year. Pray for our pastors and for the leaders. Pray that the Holy
Spirit will come on our church and new life would come to the people of our church. Pray for new ministries
- Listen to God – Read 2 Corinthians 4 and see what God is saying to you. Listen carefully
Close your time with a few words of praise and thanksgiving for all that God is doing and is going to do.
