SADDLEBACK FARM SHOP
SADDLEBACK FARM SHOP
As a family we have been focused on farming
in West Berkshire for over 60 years.
Our Meat
Both the beef and the lamb that you see in the
butchery and on the menu in the tearoom is
produced by ourselves on the farm. Meat such
as the sausages, bacon and black pudding
found on the menu are sourced locally and
can also be purchased in the butchery.
The beef is reared on our farm in the fields
surrounding the village of Brightwalton and
the lamb is grazed on the side of the Downs at
our farm in Hendred.
We believe that traditional farming practices
with a modern approach produce great
tasting meat. Conservation and environmental
integrity are the backbone of our farms, our
stock is extensively grass fed, supplemented
by home grown winter feed. Animal welfare is a
day to day priority; well-handled, calm animals
produce tender tasty meat. The breeds of our
sheep and cattle have been chosen for quality
of meat and also our climate and landscape;
slowly grown to mature to the best taste. Our
beef is hung on the bone for a minimum of 21
days for a mature taste and tender meat.
With both the beef and the lamb we control
the entire process from conception through
to butchering therefore the quality of the
finished product can be maintained with
full traceability.
SADDLEBACK FARM SHOP
the quality and integrity of the finished product.
The tearoom is an opportunity to taste both
the meat that we produce ourselves as well
as many homemade products made in the
kitchen from ingredients sourced locally
such as homemade pate, soup and chutney.
Our cakes, scones and tray bakes are all
homemade, made using flour from the
Wessex Mill in Wantage. The bread we use on
the menu and sell in the shop is from a bakery
in Wantage. The milk sold in the shop and
used in the tea room is sourced from a dairy
near Marlborough. Many other ingredients
such as crisps, jam and marmalade that we
use in the tearoom as well as sell in the shop
are sourced locally from suppliers who hold
similar values to ourselves.
The venison on the menu is always wild and
sourced again from our own farm to ensure

Dietary Requirements
Parties & Large Numbers
We are very aware that people may have special dietary requirements
and we are more than happy to accommodate these. Please let us
know when you are ordering if you have an allergy. As we produce
everything on site in the same kitchen we cannot guarantee that
products are suitable for people with nut allergies even if the product
is nut free. If you are a coeliac then we do have suitable rolls available
and a separate toaster. We can always suggest a range of meals that
would be suitable for you.
We encourage large groups of people but we do ask you to let us know
if you intend to come with parties of 8 or more. If you are planning lunch
for 10 or more then we really need to be thinking of pre-ordering your
food so that we can make plans to accommodate you. Please speak to a
member of staff. We have had large groups of people in for breakfast or
tea as well as lunch and this is not a problem. We can bake a delicious
birthday cake for you to enjoy in our tea room with friends or family from
£19.95. Please book in advance with a minimum of 48 hours notice.

offering a weekly lunch for over 65’s.
The concept has only just started and so it will take time to get a regular group
together, but we hope in time that we will be able to offer something similar to
you getting a group of people around your kitchen table.
