The payment of the 1st winner of the 2014 tag lottery was presented to Sany
Busmeon and Tag Recovery Officers Glennville Castrence and Medel Ian Lipio at the port
fronting the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources office. The reward was amounting to
Php47, 180.70 or USD1,078.4.

QUESTIONER SHEET FOR LOTTERY WINNERS
Before the presentation of the Lottery prize the winners were interviewed:
1. Now that you are the 1th winner of 2014 lottery, how are going to spend your money?
I will use the money as a capital to start a small business for my children.
2. What company you are now working?
I am still working with Trans Pacific Journey onboard Martina Elizabeth.
3. For how many years you have been working with this company?
I have been working with TPJ for 26 years.
4. What do you do onboard?
I work as a master fisherman on board purse seiners.
5. Since you’ve started how many tags did you find?
I always find tags on every vessel I board. Its roughly 60 tags I found since I
started
6. When you find the tags, what do you with the tags?
I kept on board until the vessel returns to port and I exchange the tag with
TROs for additional cash allowance and sometimes exchange the tags with
other vessel crew for goods and cigarettes.
7. When you find tags, how do you get the fishery information to fill the tag recovery form?
I normally obtain the fishery information from the vessel log sheet and fill the
tag recovery forms or ask assistance with the observer onboard and keep it for
reward purposes.
8. Do the fisheries observers on board assist you, when you find the tags?
Yes
9. What do say about this tag lottery? Your point of view.
I am thankful that I am one of the winners specially that I got the 1st prize. I
hope there will be more lotteries to come and more tags to be found.
