SOCIETY OF FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERS ……… A not-for profit technical and professional organization, SFPE is the international clearinghouse for fire protection engineering information. The Society’s goals are to advance the science and practice of fire protection engineering and its allied fields, to maintain high ethical standards among its members, and to foster fire protection engineering education. Chapter News September Meeting Our speaker(s) for the September Meeting are from Xerxes Corp. and speaking about underground storage tanks. Fiberglass underground tanks for fire-protection water are in high demand as a result of increased regulations and insurance industry requirements. Whether it is a sole source of water in rural areas or as a standby water reservoir to supplement a pressurized municipal water system, a Xerxes tank provides maintenance-free, corrosion resistant underground water storage. Fiberglass underground tanks are recognized in NFPA 22 standard, Water Storage Tanks for Fire Protection Systems, as well as NFPA 1142 standard, Water Supplies for Suburban and Rural Fire Fighting. Please email your strange, funny, unusual, spectacular pictures to Bill Kennedy at [email protected]! We plan on re-visiting the Rolla campus in the fall, as well as making further contact with the Mizzou campus. I will get the required information to Bob Park so that he can write the checks to the schools. Thanks again to all the scholarship committee members and officers for all their efforts.
