Jeb Bush speak about important educational initiatives and I enjoyed visiting with members of University of Missouri Extension. House News: Helping Missouri small businesses grow (HB 93) and preparing students for the workforce (HB 94) House members voted in favor of HB 93 that would expand the Missouri Works program so that more of the state’s small businesses would be eligible for workforce training benefits. The program helps businesses access capital to more confidently take on facility expansions and create jobs. It works to assist companies with the training of employees in new jobs and the retraining or upgrading of the skills of full-time employees in retained jobs. House bill 94 will provide students with the option to obtain ACT National Career Readiness Certification. The Certified Work Ready Communities program that is designed to attract, retain, and develop a workforce with the education and fundamental skills to succeed in the 21st century. More than 3,300 businesses and 84 counties across the state participate in the program and are ready to hire employees with National Career Readiness Certification. House Members to Honor Missouri’s Vietnam Veterans In anticipation of the state’s annual Vietnam Veterans Day on March 30, House members are encouraging veterans throughout the state to come forward to receive recognition for their service. Vietnam veterans will be honored at the State Capitol in the House Chamber by the Speaker of the House and the members of the House of Representatives. Please let me know if you are a Vietnam veteran and are planning on visiting Jefferson City on March 30th, it would be a honor and a privilege to thank you in person for your service to our country.
