Regional Congress is an annual, one day event, offered in each of the five pastoral regions and sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los
Angeles Office of Religious Educaon. Regional Congress offers a!endees opportunies to grow in their knowledge of the Catholic
faith, to deepen their spirituality, to increase their catechecal, liturgical, and leadership skills, and to be challenged by a variety of
current topics and presenters. The day includes three workshops, prayer and liturgical experiences, music and exhibitors. Depending on the region, workshops will be offered in English and Spanish. There really is something for everyone! The San Fernando Region averages 1500 a!endees, onsite, and it is our hope that you join us!
Extraordinary Minister of Eucharist Track
This year San Fernando Regional Congress is offering full Liturgical Minister Cerficaon for
anyone taking all three workshops in the Extraordinary Minister of Eucharist Track! Anyone
who would like to be trained and cerfied in this ministry is welcome.
Workshop 115: Liturgical Spirituality; This workshop will assist those preparing to be Extraordinary Ministers of
Holy Communion and those who are already ministers to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the liturgy and
their ministry within it. It will also highlight proper predispositions for and implications of this ministry for them personally.
Workshop 200: Theology of the Eucharist; This workshop will assist those preparing to be Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion by taking a deeper look at the Theology of the Eucharist that forms and informs our liturgical
practice of Communion.
Workshop 311: Guidelines and Policies of the Archdiocese. This workshop will review with the participants the
Archdiocesan liturgical guidelines set in place to regulate the orderly and reverent practice of the distribution of Holy
Communion by Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.

100 Calling all Catechists! How to Engage Parents in Faith
Formation!
Cristina Alba
The National Directory for Catechesis states that parents are the
first educators of faith for their children (234), and yet, the most
common complaint of catechists is that parents are not fulfilling
this role. This workshop will provide ideas and insight into empowering parents to be more engaged in faith formation and ministers
of their own Domestic Church.
Cristina Alba is the Director of Religious Education at St. John
Vianney in Hacienda Heights. Her prior work as an elementary
school teacher as well as a catechist for the past 15 years have
helped her develop a successful Family Catechesis program at the
parish. She is also currently involved in the Advanced Catechetical
Ministries through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
101 The Catechist as Liturgical Minister
Fr. Chris Bazyouros
What does a catechist have to do with liturgy? Quite a lot! Catechesis and liturgy walk hand in hand. Come and see how catechesis enhances the experience of the liturgy and the liturgy makes
possible an encounter for catechesis.
Fr. Chris was born and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. He
entered St. John's Seminary after receiving a Bachelor's Degree in
Chemistry. Ordained in 2003, he is serving in the Archdiocese as
the Director of the Office of Religious Education. He also serves
the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission.

Sr. Kathleen Bryant
Spirituality is all about being aware and awake to God’s presence all
around us. God spoke through dreams in the Bible. Are you paying
attention to yours? Learn some ways of reflecting and praying
about your dreams in order to be more aware of what is going on in
your life and what the next invitation from God might be! This
all pervasive love of Christ does not stop when we go to sleep or
while we dream.
Sr. Kathleen is a Religious Sister of Charity, a workshop presenter
and retreat facilitator. Sr. Kathleen has a Masters Degree in Spirituality from USF and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation.
103 The "I Dare You" that Comes Living your Christ.
Fr. Ken Deasy
Like the many saints, all of us have been given a unique "glory experience" particular to our own Divine callings. Though a dare can be
commonly perceived as a threat, the dare of the world to us today is
to "Show Me" your Christ; this Christ; THE Christ! Show me what
you've been given to see! How do we as individual Christians in
the Catholic community dare to trust and proclaim the glory of that
Christ has shown us by Faith.
Former pastor of St. Agatha's parish and presently the Director of
the Missionary Childhood Association, Los Angeles. Fr. Ken, author of “Get Off the Cross, Someone Else Needs The
Wood” (Amazon.com) is a hands on, down to earth evangelizer
who helps the catechists identify their own Faith-Experiences so
they can teach with the authority of “experience”. As Director of
the Holy Childhood Association, he travels throughout the Archdiocese speaking to students, teacher/catechists and parish communities on the experience of Catholic Missions in over 90 countries,

104 "Go, Therefore, and Make Disciples" ... Me Lord?
Eileen Fewless
We are called to be Co-Creators with God. Called to imitate Jesus,
the Master Teacher. This is a workshop of ideas, songs, prayers,
and activities to inspire your creativity as you walk with the children
toward God.
Eileen is a consultant for RCL Benziger and a DRE at St. Bernardine in Woodland Hills. She brings a vast amount of creativity to
catechesis.
105 Confirmation - Road to Discipleship or Graduation?
Jim Knowles
Studies have indicated that over 75% of those confirmed in high
school will no longer be active in the Catholic Church. With this
dire statistic, what can be done to change this? What are practical ideas to keep those confirmed involved in their Catholic faith?
What are current programs that are addressing this topic and what
makes them so different than what has been done before?
Jim Knowles is the Diocesan Representative for Ascension Press,
working with Diocesan Offices in the West. His background includes Catholic Publishing, Diocesan and parish Youth Ministry
and served as the Executive Director for the NFCYM. Jim is married and lives in Loveland, CO and has two adult children, who are
also recently married.

Warren G. Kunkle
Life-long learning and a personal commitment to catechesis in your
parish inspires a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His
Church. This workshop will discuss aspects of personal and communal prayer as it relates to your ministry; ever growing in grace and
sharing the gift of faith for decades to come.
Warren G. Kunkle III is presently an educational consultant for
William H. Sadlier Inc. He is a Master Catechist and volunteers in
his parish as the High School Confirmation Parent Formation Coordinator. He has also served as a Parish Administrator, Youth Minister/Confirmation Coordinator and a variety of other ministries over
the past 25 years. With his wife, Elga and their three teenage sons, a
broader understanding of the realities of our “domestic” church and
its unique challenges, will be fore-front in this presentation.
107 Creative Ways to Share God’s Amazing, Extravagant Love and
Mercy (the Joy of the Gospel!)
Nancy Longo
God’s great love and mercy has changed my life forever! Every day I
fall more in love with God and with those God sends into my life!
Isn’t that what we want for our students: not to entertain them, but
to foster continuing lifelong conversion? How do we become
Matchmakers and connect our students to the God who created
them and loves them beyond belief? Let’s share the JOY together in
this workshop, as we experience and create activities and prayers
(for all ages) using media, scripture and the ordinary to explore
God’s great love and mercy – so that we can pass it on!
Nancy Longo has been involved in parish ministry for the past 22
years as DRE and Youth Minister. She is a Master Catechist, has
her Advanced Bible Institute Certificate and the National Youth
Ministry Certificate. Nancy loves her family – who are spread
across the United States, 7 grown children (his, mine and ours) and
14 grandchildren! She loves Jesus and her passion is to use technology to share the Good News!

and lyre" (Psalm 149:3) Our bodies are blessed instruments. Join us
for an interactive learning experience that will leave you with ways to
incorporate movement into your Eucharistic celebrations, prayer
services and concerts. Wear comfortable clothes and be ready to
move!
Monica and Nicole have been dancing, choreographing and educating in this ministry for more than a decade. Both have extensive
experience coordinating movement for a variety of parishes throughout Southern California. Monica and Nicole have shared their ministry at the LA Religious Education Congress as featured dancers in
various liturgies, prayer services and concerts.

Popular Technology in Ministry

Overwhelmed by the constant and unending changes in media and
technology? In this workshop, we will briefly explore the "tangled
web" of new media and related technology, and discern what value,
if any, each tool can provide us with in our work in ministry and
catechesis.

Dr. William Shaules
Job's reflections on why bad things happen to good people continue to have profound influence today. This workshop will explore
these reflections as Jewish literature and as part of the faith of the
modern Church.
Dr. Shaules has a Ph.D. in New Testament from Fuller Theological
Seminary. He Teaches Scripture at Loyola Marymount University.
And serves as an Associate Coordinator of Diaconate Formation for
the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Teaches a course in Sacred Scripture at Loyola Marymount University and at St. John's Seminary.
Michael McNaught is assistant director of the Center for Religion
and Spirituality at Loyola Marymount University. He currently
chairs the film showcase at the annual Los Angeles Religious Education Congress.
114 You Can Be An Amazing Catechist… Here's How
H. Marie Slaton
What is it and how do we do it? Catechists choose to pass on the
faith. This workshop will give you practical insights to make your
classroom come alive. How to creatively develop a lesson, prayer
experiences that work, and motivation exercises that can be accomplished in your sessions with your students engaged hands on in the
process.. Handouts will be available for you to take and implement
what you learned immediately.
110 Becoming The Best Version of Who God Created You To Be
Peggy Pigors
We all have a desire to be happy, but what is happiness? We all hunger for truth, but as Pontius Pilate asked Jesus, "What is truth?"
Using a few Matthew Kelly DVD's, we will explore these questions,
and learn ways to become the best version of who God created us to
be!
H. Marie Slaton is currently the Director of Religious Education at
Our Lady of Malibu Parish. Marie is a Master Catechist, a graduate
of the LMU Bible Institute and assists with Virtus training sessions. Her ideas have been published in various resources. Besides
speaking at the Regional Congresses, she shares her ideas with others throughout the United States. She has a BS from ISU and an
MA from the University of Evansville.
Peggy is a Master Catechist, with 45 years experience in Religious
Education in parish life, mother of three, and grandmother of two.
She Chose to be Catholic as a teen.
111 Pope Francis Year of Mercy: Teaching and Preaching a Message of Welcome and Compassion.
Fr. Christopher Ponnet
Pope Francis will be leading us in a Year of Mercy, but it is up to
us as preachers and teacher to give our parishioners and students
ways to make mercy a part of our family and community as well as
our culture. We will share curriculum resources and preaching ideas
that you can use in the parish bulletin, age appropriate class ideas
and Sunday homily hints. We sing "All are welcome" but how do
we make this true in our parish or school? We sing "Christ be our
light" how are we bringing light, hope, healing and welcome to our
local community?
Ordained for Los Angeles Archdiocese in 1983, Fr. Ponnet is Pastor and chaplain at St. Camilus Center for Spiritual Care. He also
serves as Director of the Office of Catholic HIV/AIDS Ministry,
Board of Death Penalty Focus, Pax CHristi USA, Angel Interfaith
Network, Catholic Ministry with Gay and Lesbian persons and
Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace.

Joan started working at her first parish at St. Mel in Woodland
Hills, in 1976. Then left Los Angeles in 1979 to pursue a Master of
Arts in Liturgical Music at the University of Notre Dame. After
graduating, she worked in Toronto at various parishes and on the
Diocesan Music Commission; established and managed the Office of
Worship in Wichita, Kansas; wrote and published “Celebrating
School Liturgies: Guidelines for Planning,” published by Liturgical
Press in 1990. Since returning to Los Angeles in 1992, and while
raising three daughters, she has worked in various parishes. Joan was
also a member of Cardinal Mahoney’s Committee for the writing of
“Gather Faithfully Together”. She is currently Director of Liturgy
and Music at Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills.

202 Fifty Shades of Grace: The Quality of Mercy in Our Lives and
Our Ministries
Joan Doyle
Shakespeare famously wrote about it. Marvin Gaye sang about it.
Now Pope Francis has declared a Church year devoted to it. Mercy. What is it and what does it have to do with our spiritual journeys, our ministries, and the various people we serve? Are we
tempted to avoid the whole thing because we think it boring or
difficult? In this session, we will explore creative ways in which we
can think and teach about mercy (no matter the age or experience
of our learners). We might even discover opportunities to live
what we teach. Mercy!
Joan Doyle, a nationally certified Lay Ecclesial Minister, is a catechetical consultant, workshop presenter, and writer. She has held a
variety of positions in her Los Angeles parish, St. Paul the Apostle
(junior high religion teacher and assistant principal; parish DRE).
Her education includes a B.A. (English) and M.A. (Religious Education) from Immaculate Heart College, and she holds a California
teaching credential and certification as both a Master Catechist and
a Media Literacy Educator. Joan serves as a judge for THE HUMANITAS PRIZE, rewarding writers of film and TV shows that
both entertain and enrich the viewing public and has written Study
Guides for two DVD series, "Film Clips for Catholic Youth Faith
Formation" and "Film Clips for Catholic Youth Faith Formation
(Elementary)."

Dione is the Consultant of Advanced Catechetical Ministries and
Basic Catechist Formation for the Archdiocese of L.A.. Formerly
she served as Elementary Consultant for the Archdiocese of Los
Angeles and Director of Children's Ministry at St. John Eudes
Church in Chatsworth, CA. She has served on the Early Childhood
Board for 13 years and has presented workshops at the L.A. Religious Education Congress, Regional Congresses, and parishes.

Kay serves as a Master Catechist and Director of Evangelization for
the San Fernando Region A native of the California high desert, she
has been married for 29 years, is the mother of four and grandmother to 2 and 1 on the way.

Gaile Krause
Any young adults on your leadership team? If not, you are missing
out on a unique perspective. Come and hear from some students
who play active roles in university ministry and discuss how you can
bring that to your parish.
Gaile is a part-time faculty member and Assistant Director of Campus Ministry at Mount Saint Mary's University. She graduated from
LMU with a Bachelor's degree in English and from MSMC with a
Master degree in Humanities with an emphasis in history and pastoral theology. She has worked for the Archdiocesan Office of Relig.
Ed. Her workshops have included retreat planning, working with
young adults, and using various media. resources in catechesis.
206 “How a Scientist Views Religion, God, and Belief.”
Rabbi Michael Lotker
Rabbi Lotker discusses how his religious faith is informed and
strengthened by his scientific training and 30 year career as a physicist. He will discuss the evidence for God’s existence, the truth of
the Bible, the question of how a good and loving God can allow
evil and tragedy in the world and the question of why be religious?
Rabbi Lotker. A Phi Beta Kappa/Magna Cum Laude physicist, he
spent the bulk of his first career in the alternative energy business.
About 500 of the windmills that are spinning in Palm Springs, CA
were financed and installed by a company that Mike was President
of. In 2003, he was ordained as a rabbi at Hebrew Union College
in Los Angeles, where he also received his Master of Hebrew Letters degree. He is presently Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Ner Ami in
Camarillo, California and Community Rabbi for the Jewish Federation of Ventura County. In addition to his studies, Mike has published a book entitled "A Christian's Guide to Judaism."
207 Building Bridges with Parents in Ministry
Heather MacDonald
Most of us already know that the Catechism of the Catholic
Church tells us that parents are the primary catechists of their children, but sometimes it can be difficult to integrate parents. Come
to this workshop to learn why we need to involve parents in our
Faith Formation Programs, Religious Education Classes, Confirmation and Youth Ministry programs, and learn new strategies for
doing so.
Heather works for the Office of Religious Education in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as a Consultant for Youth Ministry &
Confirmation. She works and resides in the Santa Barbara Region.
She is a Master Catechist in the Archdiocese and has spent 17
years working in full time ministry.

208 Bullying at Catholic Schools - Are We Addressing the Needs
of LGBT Students?
Frank McKown
Anti-bullying campaigns are now quite commonplace at secular/
public schools with many having formed Gay Straight Alliance
(GSA) clubs and addressing the issues of LGBT bullying head on.
What are parochial schools doing to address these issues? Speakers
and audience will dialogue on best practices. Session will also provide suicide awareness/intervention training.
Frank McKown is Co-Chair of the L.A. Archdiocese's Catholic
Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Persons (CMLGP), founded in
1986 by Cardinal Mahoney. The Ministry is the oldest such organization in the nation and provides a safe and welcoming environment for lesbians and gay persons through liturgy, outreach, education, and fellowship. Mr. McKown has planned and led liturgies
and retreats on a variety of topics and has spoken at Regional Congresses since 2010. A lifelong Angelino, he received degrees from
UCLA and Pepperdine and works in the Aerospace industry.
209 Ten Life Lessons for Leaders
Kay Murdy
Who me, a leader? The thought might scare you. However, if you
are a follower of Christ, you have personal experiences that have
power to transform lives, including your own. Ten passages from
the Bible will help us examine our potential as leaders.
Kay Murdy has a Master's Degree in Religious Studies from Mount
St. Mary's College, and is a Master Catechist for the Los Angeles
Archdiocese. Kay is a member of the teaching and coordinating
team of the Catholic Bible Institute co-sponsored by the Archdiocese Office of Religious Education and Loyola Marymount University. Kay has written five books on scripture and spirituality for
Resource Publications, and one for Ligouri Publications. Her novel,
Song of the Dove, a story of Mary of Nazareth, was published by
ACTA, 2014.

Giovanni Perez
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton was fond of saying: “Live simply, so
that others may simply live.” We are all called to be poor, but what
happens when such poverty becomes oppressive, repressive and enslaving? Is that God’s will for us? What, then does Jesus’ words: “I
have come to bring freedom” mean? Inspired by the thoughts of
Salvadorian Archbishop Oscar A. Romero, we will explore the importance and relevance of Liberation Theology in our reality of
today.
Giovanni O. Perez is the Consultant of Elementary Catechesis for
the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He has a Master of Arts in Religious Studies, a BA in Psychology and is also a Master Catechist.
He has been a DRE for over twenty years in two different parishes
of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. His ministry includes working
with youth, the incarcerated, evangelization and catechesis. Giovanni
and his wife have raised a family of four high energy young adults.

for Everyone
Maureen Pratt
How can we quiet ourselves to pray? What can we do to open ourselves more to a deep spiritual life? This workshop will draw on
examples from the Saints, liturgy, and personal experience to give a
fresh perspective on nurturing an active and abundant prayer life.
Maureen Pratt is an author, syndicated columnist with Catholic
News Service, and a frequent contributor to Saint Anthony Messenger Magazine, Relevant Radio (Catholic radio), and Beliefnet.com.

Fr. Norm Supancheck
The talk will focus on how God has guided me through good and
bad times and how each of us can discover God walking with us in
life as we go through the ups and downs that happen to us. God
has done the same with all the prophets and people of the Bible.
Born in Long Beach in 1942, the first of seven children. Went to
Queen of Angels High School Seminary now known as Bp. Alemany. H.S. St. John's College in Camarillo. St. John's Theology in
Camarillo, ordained in 1968. AATH at Franciscan Theological
Union. Have served in many parishes in the Archdiocese and at

302 Young Adult Catholics: in the Middle, But are They at the
Center?
Jason Coito
Looking at the big news stories it seems like young adults are all
becoming "nones" (Checking the "None" box on surveys asking
their religion) or they're a JPII inspired generation at the heart of
the New Evangelization. There is truth to both and lots in between
about this critical age group. This workshop will place Young
Adult ministries (including marriage prep, RCIA and others) in the
context of the Church's catechetical teaching to address practical
challenges and opportunities.
Jason Coito is the Consultant for Young Adult Formation for the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles Office of Religious Education. He has

ideas will be discussed during this session. The goal of this workshop is to equip catechists that then in turn empower parents to be
catechists of the domestic church.
Victor is a National Religion Consultant for Bilingual Resources for
William H. Sadlier, Inc. He has presented workshops to numerous
groups both regionally and nationally. Victor has been in ministry
for 20 years including classroom teaching, youth ministry, training,

The labyrinth is a meditation tool whereby participants walk contemplatively along a path leading to a center point for a deep sense
of prayer and understanding. A “step-by-step” process will invite

and catechists in the development of solid Christian values as they

Kelly has served The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Santa Clarita for over 13
years. While she started as a catechist for Little Church, she then
became a Certified Catechist and was asked to act as the Director of
Little Church for her parish. In addition, Kelly was asked to serve
on the Early Childhood Catechesis Board for the Archdiocese in
2004. She is passionate about her faith and ministry as well as traveling with the Early Childhood Catechesis Board to educate catechists on working with our young Catholic children. Let’s make

El P. Mariano De Blas L.C. es un sacerdote Legionario de Cristo,

Pontificia Gregoriana de Roma, donde obtiene el grado de Licenciatura en Filosofía. Ha desarrollado una intensa actividad de formación de jóvenes y matrimonios como Director del CEYCA y del
Instituto Cumbres, en la ciudad de México. En Monterrey y Guadalajara, México ha conducido grupos juveniles y fungió como consejero matrimonial. Actualmente radica en Los Ángeles, California,
colaborando en la estación Guadalupe Radio y en televisión, con el
programa "La Alegría de Vivir". Es un experto en los medios de
comunicación social. Ha escrito diez libros. Se destaca por su capacidad de motivación para vivir la vida con amor, alegría y esperanza.

servidor, entre ellas están: la buena comunicación, el dominio de

Luis es creador del programa social “Emoción Activa” el cual ofrece

hijos adolescentes y jóvenes adultos/adultas en este siglo XXI.
Lourdes González-Rubio es la Coordinadora de Ministerios Catequísticos Básicos y Avanzados en Español para la Oficina de Educación Religiosa de la Arquidiócesis de L.A desde 1991. Colaboró
con la Oficina para el Culto Divino, dando entrenamiento a los
ministros litúrgicos desde 1986, tiene treinta años de experiencia en
la pastoral hispana. Ha sido invitada a dar conferencias en las Diócesis de San Diego, Sacramento, San Bernardino y Oakland. Es autora de dos libros de poesía y uno de reflexiones para la compañía
Ligoure, titulado “Entre Diosito y yo”.

El Ministerio de la Mujer en el Nuevo Testamento y en la Iglesia
Actual. San Juan Pablo II en su documento “La Dignidad de la
Mujer” nos exhorta a reconocer la dignidad y el trabajo espiritual y
catequético que la mujer ha ejercido durante toda la historia de la
Iglesia. Te invito a conocer más del ministerio de la mujer en la
actualidad, partiendo desde el Nuevo Testamento, reflexionando
sobre algunos pasajes de la Biblia encontraremos un gran sentido de
responsabilidad de la mujer al ministerio. Haremos un recorrido de
los últimos dos siglos para conocer y aprender más de cerca a las
grandes servidoras de Cristo.
Socorro obtuvo la Maestría en Ministerio Pastoral en St. John’s
Seminary en Camarillo, CA., es Directora del Ministerio Hispano
de la Diócesis de Monterey, CA y Co-conductora del programa

231 La Catequesis de la Mujer en la Biblia
Maria Rivera
Enfocaremos nuestra catequesis en la lucha que hemos tenido las
mujeres contra una serie de condicionamientos heredados de una
cultura patriarcal. Haremos una síntesis de la catequesis de las mujeres desde Myriam (Ex.15-20), Debora (Jueces 4-4) Hulda (2 Rey
22-14) hasta las mujeres que hoy hacemos historia dejándonos conducir por el Espíritu, atentas a los signos de los tiempos, sin forzar
las situaciones.
María Nació en Nicaragua y emigró a Estados Unidos en el año
1989. Tiene una licenciatura en Administración de Empresas de la
Universidad Centroamericana. Estudió dos años de Administración
Parroquial y Recursos Humanos en la Universidad de Loyola Marymount. Trabajó 13 años como DER, ha enseñado a niños de primaria, a Catequistas y a Directores de Educación Religiosa. Actualmente coordina el Instituto Bíblico en Español de la Arquidiócesis de
Los Angeles.

Conoceremos la figura de este verdadero profeta que surgió en El
Salvador. "San Romero de America" como lo llama Don Pedro
Casaldaliga, fue un verdadero fenómeno para la iglesia Latinoamericana y para el mundo. Romero es gran profeta, mártir y pastor. La
cumbre de su profetismo es morir celebrando el sacrificio eucarístico. Fue beatificado el 23 de Mayo del 2015 en El Salvador y pronto
será canonizado. Romero fue la voz de los que no tienen voz.
Estudio Filosofía y Teología en El Salvador. Trabajó pastoralmente
en El Salvador desde 1977 hasta 1992. Es formador de catequistas
desde 1998 al presente en Los Angeles. Es director de liturgia certificado por la arquidiócesis y director del RICA en Maria Inmaculada, Pacoima. Es conferencista en los congresos regionales de la arquidiócesis de Los Angeles.

233 Utilizando el Discernimiento en el Proceso de RICA

¿Cómo, cuando, donde y con quien se utiliza el proceso de discernimiento en RICA? No solo porque la persona participa en RICA
indica que la persona va ser admitida a la vida sacramental. Hay
momentos en la preparación para la vida sacramental cuando personas no están listas para pasar a la siguiente etapa del proceso. ¿Qué
preguntas se deben de hacer y quienes son las personas que deben
de tener esta conversación para discernir si la persona esta respondiendo al llamado del Señor?
El Padre Vega es Pastor de St. Frances of Rome en Azuza, CA. El
ha sido un presentador por la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles y
Chicago en Liturgia y Catequesis. El Padre Vega además de su
servicio a nivel Arquidiocesano y parroquial, ha servido a la Iglesia a
nivel nacional en el “North American FORUM” en catecumenado
y en el “National Federation of Priests' Councils”.

con Alegría!

"La parábola del sembrador nos recuerda lo importante que es
preparar el terreno para que la Semilla de la Palabra de Dios de
fruto abundante. Una manera eficaz para lograr nuestro objetivo es
aprender a hacer catequesis participativas que motiven a nuestros
niños a vivir la alegría del mensaje del Evangelio. Ven a este taller
para aprender a utilizar técnicas pedagógicas que te permitan preparar lecciones creativas. Favor de traer tijeras, pegamento (glue
stick) y marcadores.
Nacido en Nicaragua, ha vivido en los EE.UU. desde 1989. Es
graduado del colegio FIDM como diseñador gráfico y actualmente
está terminando su Maestría en Ministerio Pastoral en el Seminario
San Juan en Camarillo. Douglas es Maestro Catequista de la arquidiócesis de LA Fue Coordinador de Educación Religiosa de la
parroquia Nuestra Señora del Santo Rosario en Sun Valley, y es
miembro de una pequeña comunidad de fe desde hace 17 años, y es
director de un coro de su parroquia. Tiene experiencia como catequista de niños y adultos, retiros de preparación sacramental para
padres e hijos, así como formación para catequistas a nivel básico y
avanzado en la arquidiócesis. Douglas trabaja como diseñador de
publicaciones para una compañía de equipo médico local.

Nos sentimos extraños ante el lenguaje original usado por los evangelistas para la mayoría de hombres y mujeres de nuestro tiempo.
En este taller intentaremos aproximarnos al mensaje que aquellas
personas querían dar a sus contemporáneos y que nosotros las leemos dos milenios más tarde. Haremos hincapié a lo que querían
decir al narrar ciertos acontecimientos como el nacimiento de Jesús,
las bienaventuranzas, algunas acciones singulares de Jesús, la relación de Jesús con las mujeres, etc.
Originario de El Salvador. Graduado en Ingeniería Agronómica en
la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, Argentina. Estudios Avanzados de Biblia y Catequesis, y Liturgia Avanzada. Actualmente
colabora con la Arquidiócesis de LÁ impartiendo Cursos Básicos
de Catequesis. Además colabora en diversos ministerios en la Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Valle, Canoga Park.
