Drop-off/Pick-up: Alder Street Recreation Centre
Each week children will participate in a variety of activities that
encourage the development of motor skills and social interaction
- all while having fun, learning and building friendships with other
fun-seekers. Campers will enjoy drama, circle games, dance, arts and crafts, active
games, theme days, stories and songs, as well as fun trips to the library.
Fee: $160(R)/$192(N) or $128(R)/$153.60(N) for June 30-July4 or Aug 5-8

Children will participate in a variety of sports, co-operative games, bean bag activities,
parachute games, obstacle courses, relay races, arts and crafts and more.
Participation, co-operation and having fun is what this program is all about.

Drop-off/Pick-up: Island Lake Conservation Area
At the beautiful Island Lake Conservation Area, campers will play with friends
including bugs, critters and creepy-crawlies. Activities will involve hiking, survival
techniques, leaf prints, sand castle building and more. Each week will provide a
different outdoor education experience.

Each day campers will learn the skills and drills of a specific sport, both traditional
and non-traditional. The emphasis on physical activity encourages the development
of fine and gross motor skills and introduces children to the social aspect of sports.
Circle time, arts and crafts complement the sports component of this well balanced
program.

Explore… a variety of camp activities which will challenge the campers. Search
and discover your way through the week, filled with physical activity, crafts and
games including geocaching treasure hunts.

An active introduction to a variety of sports options - attention is given to skills
development in a non-competitive environment. Learn tennis, along with the favourites
like ultimate frisbee, flag football, soccer, dodgeball and much more.

Drop-off/Pick-up: Island Lake Conservation Area
What is a food web or how can you tell an animal by its footprints? This is a camp
for children who love the outdoors and want to learn about nature. It will include
hikes at the conservation area, nature and environmental games and activities.
Geocaching will be introduced.

Campers will learn a variety of cooking techniques including how to read a recipe,
use of basic kitchen tools and methods, measuring and preparing food. They will
spend the morning exploring different flavours, textures and appearances and enjoy
eating their creations.

A combination of the arts including: dramatic arts, creative
dance and artistic designs. A performance will take place on
Fridays. Special talent guests will be scheduled.

A digital photography camp designed to explore the art of cameras, light patterns and
reflections. Capture photographs of people, architecture, objects and landscapes.
Campers must bring their own cameras.

Explore and spark your creative and curious imagination. Hands-on experiments
including fingerprinting, changing states of matter (solids into water and goo); rocket
launchers and pulley systems.

Join us for some action and adventure. Skateboarding is our main focus, but we will
also have BMX biking. Bring your own equipment, helmets are mandatory.

Drop-off/Pick-up: Alder Street Recreation Centre
Campers will have fun learning junior lifeguard skills, aqua-squirts, water polo and
swimming skills. Fitness, leadership and teamwork skills will be developed
throughout the week. Campers must be able to swim 2 widths of front crawl &
tread water for 2 minutes in the deep end.

Drop-off/Pick-up: Alder Street Recreation Centre
Creative drawing, water art painting, air clay projects and sketching both indoors and
outdoors. Campers will learn to work with a variety of artistic mediums with special
guest artists from the community.
Swimming every day!
Ages 10-13 years

Do you know the difference between animal tracks - friend
or foe? Do you know what to do if lost in the woods?
Come have fun learning how to build shelters, learn to
navigate, and feel more comfortable in the wilderness
through hikes and activities.
Fee: $175(R)/$210(N)
Drop-off/Pick-up: Alder Street Recreation Centre
Learn skills including leadership, teamwork, games and activity planning and
community involvement. They will receive instruction for babysitting, being
home alone and CPR certification.
Volunteer opportunities are available for Level II only.
*For Level II registration, Level I is a mandatory prerequisite.

Pick-up: Alder Street Recreation Centre
Create delicious snacks and meals on your own. Learn how to follow recipes and
combine ingredients to make breakfast, snacks, lunches, meals and especially
desserts. Create your own cookbook and expand your culinary skills.
Partner program with the Ontario Conservatory of Music.
Fee: $200(R)/$240(N)
Drop-off/Pick-up: Alder Street Recreation Centre
Explore the world of music - instrumental instructions with options including
guitar, drum kit and keyboard. Previous music knowledge is recommended.
A “band performance” will be held on Friday.

Medication/Allergies/Diagnoses
Be sure staff are aware of any allergies, medication or behaviour diagnoses.
A medical information form must be filled out in person at Alder Street Recreation
Centre at the Wednesday, June 11 Open House from 6-9 p.m. Our camps are
nut-aware!
Do you feel that your child will need additional support at camp?
All summer day camp programs offered by the Town of Orangeville provide an
inclusive environment. In partnership with Community Living Dufferin, inclusive
leaders are available for participants who require additional assistance. Spaces are
limited, so please contact Karen Bowen at 519-941-8971 Ext. 155.
Refunds
Requests for program refunds must be received in writing by the Parks and
Recreation Department. All refunds are subject to an administration fee, unless
registered and withdrawn online at e-Registration up to five (5) days before
program start date, and a credit is left on the customer’s account. Withdrawal
requests accompanied by a doctor’s note will be considered on an individual basis. Inperson withdrawals for week-long camps up to 5 days before start of camp are subject to
an administration fee of $25.
