Routes to excellence
What is it?
TeachingEnglish Primary Essentials is a development
course for teachers of English teaching five to 12
year-old learners.
How is it delivered?
It is delivered as an online course in which a group of
teachers and a trained moderator work together.
There are also face-to-face materials supporting
the online course that can be used in teacher
training workshops.
When is the next course?
Courses start 2 times a year. Please lease contact the
British Council for more information on course dates.
How much does it cost?
The course fee is EUR 175.
What does the course
consist of?
The course consists of six modules covering the following
topics:
1.Introduction
2. First steps in teaching children
3. Songs and games
4. Learning styles
5. Syllabus and lesson planning
6. Classroom management.
The modules include readings, audio, videos of
teachers in the classroom, interactive exercises,
collaborative exercises, discussion forums and other
activities. Each module can be covered in about six
hours and the course lasts approximately 12 weeks.
Participants are assessed at the end of each module.
These assignments form a portfolio on which the
participants are given a final assessment. Participants
who complete the course successfully receive a
British Council certificate.
