Invited Submission Session Type Guidelines

Session Types: *Speaker Disclosures are collected through the submissions site Non‐Microscopic Workshop (NWK) – a 1.5‐hour non‐microscopic session, preferably dedicated to an in‐depth discussion of one topic which includes cytology histology correlations. A maximum of two presenters is suggested and qualified for honorariums (unless previously discussed and approved). ‐ REQUIRE SAMs and HANDOUTS. Moderators and speakers of these sessions MUST provide QUALITY SAMs questions/answers/explanations/references and PRE‐MEETING HANDOUT UPLOADS for attendees to claim SAM credits for these sessions. ‐ Details for creating quality SAMs and how to upload handouts will be available on the ASC Web site, along with Audiovisual forms to be submitted by the Moderator or Lead Speaker. ‐ LAPTOP PCs ARE PROVIDED FOR THESE SESSIONS! Speakers will still be required to bring your presentation on a memory stick to load. Microscopic Workshop (MWK) – 2‐hour microscopic session consisting of a 1‐hour lecture followed by a 1‐hour practicum of glass slides pertinent to the topic. Participants will have time to review the cases independently and ask questions of the faculty as they review the glass slides. This format provides ample time for background information and presentation of any changes in practice, pitfalls in morphology, and ancillary studies as well as practical reinforcement of the material through self‐study of slides with experts available to answer questions. A maximum of two presenters is suggested and qualified for honorariums (unless previously discussed and approved). ‐ REQUIRE SAMs and HANDOUTS. Speakers will still be required to bring your presentation on a memory stick to load. Panel Luncheon (PL) – a 1.75‐hour session that lends itself to a conversational, interactive presentation while the audience has lunch. A maximum of three presenters is suggested and qualified for honorariums (unless previously discussed and approved). Plated lunch is served. Roundtable Discussion (RT) – a 1.75‐hour format, at a pre‐registered single topic/table in which an area is discussed with one facilitator and nine attendees. Allows more interaction and in‐depth discussion of topics that may have a more limited scope of interest. Buffet lunch is offered. - REQUIRE HANDOUTS, but do NOT offer SAMs. 100 West 10th Street, Suite 605 * Wilmington, Delaware 19801 * (302) 543-6583 * (302) 543-6597 (fax) * cytopathology.org

Roundtable Discussion (RT) (con.) NO laptop or any audiovisual (power) provided for this session type (unless you bring a laptop powered by battery only, which would not have the ability to project) Molecular Musical Roundtables (MRT) ‐ A lively, 1.75 hour, practical case‐based approach to cytology and molecular diagnostics. After an introduction to optimal procurement of tissue the participants begin working in groups of 9 to work through 6 cases. A different faculty will spend 15 minutes at each table to review one of the 6 cases. The cases will include cytomorphology evaluation followed by an explanation of the molecular results. The faculty will assist in the understanding of how the particular molecular test employed in the case works and will assist in the assessment of the final results. Cases will include lung cancer, lymphoma, thyroid follicular lesions, bile duct specimens, soft tissue tumors, and fluids with mesothelioma. Buffet lunch is offered. - REQUIRE HANDOUTS, but do NOT offer SAMs. - NO laptop or any audiovisual (power) provided for this session type (unless you bring a laptop powered by battery only, which would not have the ability to project) Multi‐Headed Scope Sign‐out with the Professor Session (MHSP) – 1‐hour session, providing close contact with an expert in the field doing what we all love, cytomorphology. Each session will focus on one area and the cases will be presented in a sign‐out style at a 10‐headed microscope. Participants are encouraged to join in the discussion and time permitting may bring their own challenging cases to foster discussion. - REQUIRE HANDOUTS, but do NOT offer SAMs. - NO laptop or any audiovisual (power) provided for this session type (unless you bring a laptop powered by battery only, which would not have the ability to project) 100 West 10th Street, Suite 605 * Wilmington, Delaware 19801 * (302) 543-6583 * (302) 543-6597 (fax) * cytopathology.org
