ince early last century, Nashville and the surrounding area of Brown County have served as an
art colony. T.C. Steele and Adolph and Ada Shulz brought their families to Brown County in
1907. They were the first artists to establish permanent residences and studios. Over the years,
others followed, and Brown County became known as one of the most popular art colonies in the
nation. In the early days, the Pittman Inn was a favorite place for itinerant artists to stay and visit
with other local artists. Unfortunately, the Pittman Inn did not survive to add to local heritage and
history. The Artists Colony Inn was built in memory of this early period of our village. We hope you
will come stay with us.
Local craftsmen have created furnishings for us typical of a 19th century inn. Most guest rooms
feature four poster beds, Windsor chairs, hand-stitched quilts or early style coverlets and handloomed rugs. The furniture is of either cherry or painted in one of the early colors used in the 19th
century. All have at least a queen size bed, a full bath, and color TV/DVD. Some rooms have balconies.
Our Inn also offers Suites that are decorated in cherry furniture designed by Bob Timberlake.
Each suite features a bedroom with one or two queen size beds and TV. The living room has a sofa
and TV with VCR-FM radio. The suite also includes a two-person whirlpool and a kitchenette with
a microwave, refrigerator, and a coffeemaker. One suite includes a gathering room which seats
14 people.

all Ahead Policy: We do not take reservations, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Easter and
Mother's Day, but we have a “Call Ahead Policy.” You may call or come in the day you would like
to eat in our dining room and give us your desired time. We will put you on our list. When you return,
check in with us. We will seat you at the first available table. Remember that we cannot guarantee a
time, nor can we hold a table for you.
