1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Summer Reading Program
Let’s go to the
Library!
The Summer Reading Program begins on
June 5 and runs through August 5. We
provide children ages three and up with
the opportunity to earn prizes for reading
during the summer. Be sure to sign up and
pick up your reading log! We hope to have
all of Oak Brook’s children “Reading by
Design” this summer!
Weekly Programs
Toddling 2s - 3s Storytime
Thursdays,
June 8, 15, 22, 29, July 6, and 13
10:30 am (30 minutes)
This is a perfect program to introduce
little ones to the library. We’ll enjoy
some good books, sing songs, dance, do
fingerplays, and more! We’ll also make
crafts which are related to the theme
of the day. A parent or caregiver must stay
with children during the program.

Grades K-2 Storytime/Art
Tuesdays,
June 6, 13, 20, 27, and July 11
4:00 pm (45-60 minutes)
Join us for some summertime stories that
will awaken our creative juices. Because
Miss Brigitte believes that good books
inspire us, a story-inspired art project will follow. Please dress
for mess! Registration required.
Teen Community Service Opportunities
Grades 6 & Up. Registration is required.
Looking for volunteer hours for applications? Sign up to
assist with programs throughout the summer.
Please provide 24 hours notice if you can no longer
volunteer. Dress appropriately to be able to bend and
move. Call Youth Services for registration and for questions
about each program or event.

and Math That Makes Art

The Hinsdale Humane Society’s READ program bring us teams
of trained owners and their Delta-registered dogs (or cat) to
work with children to improve reading skills. This is an
opportunity for children to practice their reading skills with the
best, nonjudgmental listener of all.

Creative Cartooning 2: Workshop for Kids

Professional cartoonist, Mark Anderson is back! In this followup class he will tap kids’ attraction to humor and penchant for
doodling. They’ll have fun while learning a new skill. In this
interactive, one hour hands-on class, kids will:
 Draw cartoon animals of all types.
 Experiment with anthropomorphism.
 Explore and adapt idioms and cliches.
 Write their own animal-themed jokes.

Books and Bites: Summer Book Discussions
Do you like reading a good book
and then sharing it with others?
We will meet three times this
summer to discuss good books.
Not only will we talk about the stories
and characters, but we will also discover fun
facts about each book as well as the authors. Snacks will be

Sylvan Learning Center will guide
participants in building and
programming robots —all while
developing new skills and
having a blast with STEM (Science Technology Engineering

Coding for Kids

Sylvan Learning Center will give
participants an introduction to
computer coding and video game
design. They will look at designing and animating
characters with sounds and special effects. Students build
valuable skills and early confidence in computer programming
