Run 106 – 24th January 2016 – The Realm – Handle & Lyto
A small group of hashers assembled for the Leo Lunar run in The Realm, Hataitai, to celebrate the monthly
emergence of another Full Moon - not that it was sighted while on tonight’s outing. The pack set out around
18.38 pm with little instruction from hares, Handle or absent co-hare Lyto. We were however told to head
off and that the ‘late again tonight’ Fraggle would catch up.
Gee led the way up Taurima Street before crossing the bridge (with some hesitation, due to a check and
not the thought of encountering a team of netballers) to the Netball Courts at Hataitai Park. The FRB place
interchanged as we steered our way around the cycling velodrome, with Recycled Virgin, BS and even
The Mop occasionally seen in the front position. However The Mop devotedly slowed his pace to ensure
his dearly-beloved J-Wax was not isolated as we ascended the heights of Mt Victoria.
The team tracked its way along the Southern Walkway environs before stumbling upon a PS on Alexandra
Road where we were offered massive rum balls to accompany the liquid refreshment. It was at this location
Fraggle caught up with the pack (or more correctly, the pack caught up with Fraggle who had not a drip of
sweat to his brow and conceitedly displayed an empty tinnie consumed in his transport to this point). The
climb continued and despite BS’s attempts to coax the FRB’s to the Mt Vic lookout it was down Upoko
Road and the zig zag where Gee displayed his FRB skills with to the pub beckoning.
BS meanwhile was abandoned at the final check when he went bush to locate a discarded Alexandra Road
sign and which, despite his numerous attempts, he failed to erect in the depths of the undergrowth. A
Lunar-tic on Mt Vic.
