Hawk Talk – Wednesday, March 15, 2017 Students: Students, we do not allow groups of more than 5 students when you are out on the playground or fields. If there are more than 5 students you must either split up or sit down. Spring Pictures: Spring pictures are today and tomorrow during your PE class. You must dress out after pictures are taken so do not forget your PE clothes. 8th Graders: Promotion pictures will be taken after Spring Break, on April 6th and 7th. Please let your parents know that you will have the opportunity to purchase extra pictures. Soccer: Congratulations to both of our teams on quarterfinal wins yesterday at the championship tournament. The girls easily defeated Piute 10-0 Sophia M. scoring 2 goals and picking up 3 assists, Riley B. 2 goals and an assist, Grace R. 3 goals, Kelsey B. and Kayla M. a goal each, McKenzie D. 2 assists, and Izabela C. an assist. Great job ladies! The boys defeated Endeavour 3-0 thanks to 2 scores from Jacob R-K and Diego M. with 1 goal and an assist. Nills M. also had an assist. The tournament continues after school today at 3:30 with the boys facing # 2 Piute on field # 18 and our girls going up against # 4 Cole on field # 11. Good luck teams! GO HAWKS!!! Students: The learning lab will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, at lunch. Theater Sportz: Don’t forget- rehearsal after school today until 3:30! Plan on some extra practices before we leave for Spring Break. All current 6th and 7th graders: Are you interested in raising your grades, becoming an expert learner or just joining a group of highly motivated students who support one another in their journey to College, then AVID is for you. AVID can change the way you approach your learning and give you access to classes that you didn't think were possible. If interested please see Miss Collins in room 126 for an application. TRACK: Track and field permission slips are now available for anyone wishing to participate in track this year. Voluntary practices will be held over the break on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. Practices will be at Gregg Anderson’s tack and you must have a signed permission slip in order to participate. Permission slips are available from your PE teacher, Mr. Lister in room 115, Mr. Byass in room 516, or the front office. Students: Remember that on Friday, March 17th the 3rd quarter progress reports will be sent home. Also, Friday is the last day of school before spring break and is a minimum day. School will resume on Monday, April 3rd. Spring Intersession: Did you have an F on your first semester report card? Was your GPA below a 2.0? If any of those things happened, then you are required to attend our Intersession School for credit retrieval. Intersession school will run from 7:45 am – 11:45 am from March 20th – 24th and is mandatory for those students. DIVERSITY Uniqueness They say no two snowflakes are alike. That’s amazing to think about when you consider all the millions and trillions and quadrillions of snowflakes that fall to earth each winter. Imagine – each snowflake a different shape and a different size, unique and unrepeatable. Sounds like human beings. Remember what Juan Mascaro said: Each one of us is a unique event in the universe. Now listen to this little poem about snowflakes: Though each flake is very different There is one point you should know: As the snowflakes reach the Earth below They become one in a great blanket of snow.* Which brings me to this: Just like a great blanket of snow, we are one huge blanket made up of all those unique and unrepeatable human beings covering Planet Earth. Imagine that?
