Holiday Thoughts
Christmas 2014 is almost upon us and like the Christmases before, this one
will also be unique. It amazes me that every year we have lived, Christmas is part
of that year and yet each one is different.
Although many of the Christmas memories merge together, especially those of our childhood, just
as many memories stand alone and vivid in our minds. Some are sad memories, like the first Christmas without a beloved parent, or the fond memory of your first 2-wheel bike. If you think back, some of
the best memories come from making someone else happy on Christmas morning. Knowing that feeling
of joy is like nothing else. It fills your heart with peace and love and you realize that’s what Christmas is really about.
As Christmas 2014 approaches with the hustle and bustle the season embodies, take a moment to
look around. Are your neighbors ok? Is there a family that has fallen on hard times? Is there an elderly neighbor facing their first Christmas without their spouse? Is there someone all alone? Is there
someone depressed or sad?
Ask yourself — what can I do for my neighbor, for a friend, for someone sad and alone. A plate
of cookies, some flowers, a small gift, an invitation to Christmas dinner perhaps? There is always
something you can do to make Christmas a bit brighter for those less fortunate. This year be a Christmas Angel and make someone’s Christmas a bit merrier! You’ll love the feeling!
Electrical Safety in Winter
December 16, 2014 at 10 am
Rowley Public Library
Too many extension cords? Overloaded circuits? Exposed wires?
Heaters in dangerous areas? Cost efficient light bulbs…. Learn
the answers to all these questions and more at a special presentation.
Winter poses as many problems, if not more, than summer does where electricity is
concerned. Attend the presentation by Rowley Municipal Light and learn what
measures you need to take to have a safe home in the winter months. The
presentation is free and all are welcome. A light brunch will be available
to those who attend.
********** BUS NOTES ***********
If you are attending the POPS on December.3, the bus leaves promptly at 6 pm
from St. Mary’s parking lot on Main Street.
If you would like to attend Triton’s Holiday Tea on Thursday, December.11, and need a ride,
please call the Center and register.
If you need a ride to the Christmas Party, please call and register as Denise needs to establish
a bus route with pick-up times.
Sand Available To Seniors
A citizen of the Town of Rowley may obtain a 5 gallon bucket of sand
(BYOB = bring your own bucket) from the Highway Dept. during the
winter months to sand driveways and walkways. The Highway Dept. requests that you pick up the sand between 12-1PM or 3:30 to 4 PM.
While the weather is still good, go and pick-up your sand and be
pared for winter.

Cocoa and Caroling
The “Boomer” does a return gig at the Rowley Senior Center on
December 23, at 2:00 pm, with cd’s, amplifiers, musical instruments, and the works to get you right in the Holiday spirit. If you attended last year,
you know what fun it was with folks ringing jingle bells, tapping tambourines, and
some keeping time tapping on the tables. The “Boomer” sings, plays instruments, and
gets his audience caught up in the fun. So join us on Tuesday, December 23, at 2:00pm
and start your Christmas with a song, a dance, or jingling bells. Put the joy in
Christmas and ‘carol’ your heart out! Call and register so we know how much cocoa
to make.

A wonderful film with great actors and the
cinematography is just beautiful. This is
Susan Boyle’s debut film playing the part of
Eleanor Hopewell in the movie. She also
introduces her new song “Miracle Hymn.”
This movie is the “It’s A Wonderful Life” for
our generation. Don’t miss it.
