ABOUT THE SHOW

REJOICE!! Co-Produced by
Mrs. William H. Fuller Family Water’s Edge of Lake Wales
SISTER ACT is Broadway’s jubilant musical
comedy smash that will make you jump for joy
and sing to the heavens! Based on the hit
Whoopi Goldberg film, this toe-tapping
musical tells a surprisingly touching story of
sisterhood. Featuring original music by 8time Oscar winner Alan Menken (BEAUTY AND
THE BEAST, THE LITTLE MERMAID, NEWSIES),
this uplifting musical is filled with raftershaking songs, outrageous show-stopping
dance numbers and a truly moving story.
Deloris Van Cartier (TWH newcomer and THE
FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING’s Syreeta Banks)
is a wannabe disco diva with her two backup
singers Tina (Nya Bernier - Hairspray) and
Michelle (Tiffany Whitsett - BEAUTY AND THE
BEAST) struggling to get a gig. When she
witnesses the murder of Ernie (Larentiis
Smith - RAGTIME) by her mobster boyfriend
Curtis (Tony Murvin - SECOND SAMUEL, BOYS
NEXT DOOR), she knows her days are
numbered. Horrified, she runs to the local
police station where she confides in the
earnest desk chief, Eddie (Sean Philbin - Les
Miserables, Shrek). Eddie decides to hide her
in the last place anyone would think to look—a
convent!

Superior (Virginia Zechiel - FIDDLER ON THE
ROOF), crankily points out at every
opportunity. Deloris cannot smoke, drink, or
wear any of her less than appropriate outfits. Despite the best efforts of the ever
effervescent and perky Sister Mary
Patrick (Alaina West - fresh off an egg-cellent
performance as Humpty Dumpty in SHREK) to
hilariously extol the virtues of being a nun,
Deloris remains unconvinced. It is only when Deloris hears the efforts of the
church choir (which sounds remarkably like
rabid cats in an alley) that her interest is
piqued. Deloris offers to try directing them,
taking over for the crotchety Sister Mary
Lazarus (Lori Engler - LES MISERABLES, 9 TO
5) and somehow manages to teach them to
sing on key and keep time. She also manages
to break the quiet and timid Sister Mary
Robert (Siobhan Gale - RENT) out of her
shell to reveal a voice that shakes the rafters
of the old church. Attendance at the
struggling church grows with the popularity of
the choir, donations start to roll in, and the
church's imminent closure is forestalled. The choir is so popular, Monsignor O’Hara
(Jamey Brown - MARY POPPINS, FIDDLER ON
THE ROOF) has some terrific news: the choir
has been asked to perform a special concert in
front of the Pope. However, the newfound
fame comes at a price. Curtis and his gang of
hapless goons, Joey (Casey Faulkner - SHREK,
THE FULL MONTY), TJ (Sergio Perez - JOSEPH
AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR
DREAMCOAT, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR), and
Pablo (José Rodriguez - ANNIE,
HAIRSPRAY) see Deloris and choir on the news
and devise a slapstick plan to break into the
convent and eliminate her. continues on page 2…

CAUGHT IN THE NET
In the end, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find
their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers
her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal
power of friendship, SISTER ACT will have you
singing hallelujah! Plus, we have rapping
granny nuns - that's funny!
Dan Chesnicka
TWH Producing Director
"After a long and thorough search, the
decision to bring Dan on to take over the
position is a satisfying one. He has a rare
combination of supreme success in the
business world, together with an
inventive mind and a deep commitment
to the artistic product. With an existing
passion already in place and a thorough
knowledge of both the community and
the organization he will serve, Dan is
already ahead of the curve. Yes, Dan's
the man, but in our case, the Man is
Dan.” — Norm Small, Founding
Producing Director
ABOUT OUR PRODUCERS
THE MRS. WILLIAM H. FULLER FAMILY - The community lost one of its dearest members and
theatre supporters last year when we lost Grand Dame, Mrs. William Fuller. Eunie, as we all called
her, was a Co-Producer and Angel for many, many years. Her family knows how important TWH
was to her and is to the community, so has decided to continue the legacy of giving in her
memory. They began a new future with Theatre Winter Haven as Co-Producers of ANNIE GET
YOUR GUN last season and SISTER ACT for the current season. TWH will always remember this
extraordinary woman and her generous heart.
WATER’S EDGE OF LAKE WALES - In 1995, seven community churches had a vision of a
retirement community in Lake Wales. With the diligent work of Clay Terry, a prominent attorney
and donations from many area residents and businesses, the dream became a reality. The land
was graciously donated by Ellis Hunt a prominent Citrus grower and owner of Hunt Brothers Inc.
Built in 2008, Water’s Edge of Lake Wales, located just off Florida State Road 60 in Polk County,
has 136 units, including 22 independent living villas, 68 independent living apartments, 30
assisted living apartments and 16 memory care apartments. Water’s Edge of Lake Wales has an
assortment of lifestyle options including apartment homes, from studios to two-bedroom
apartments and a secured Memory Care.
Water's Edge encourages residents to celebrate the varied opportunities of senior living and to
offer a rich and fulfilling quality of life.
Please come by and visit Water's Edge and experience the lifestyle that is offered.
