Facilities
The Academy has five Science laboratories and 3 technology rooms which are situated close
together and are served by a Science Prep Room and Technology technician’s area. The
rooms are grouped around a central area with an outdoor carbon neutral classroom. Each
laboratory has the usual science facilities and is fitted with a projector and interactive
whiteboard. The technology suite is made up of a food technology room, a resistant
materials workshop and a graphics room. There is office space available plus a
photocopying room. Each member of the team has a laptop, and access to a range of
appropriate software and electronic resources.

Curriculum

Year 7 and 8
We are currently in the process of redesigning our Year 7 and 8
curriculum. In 2015 we seized the opportunities, presented by the
removal of National Curriculum levels and the freedoms afforded to
academies, to redesign our curriculum content and assessment
systems so that the two were closely linked. This year we have been
exploring pedagogical and curriculum models developed by
Kunskapsskolan schools in Sweden. Our curriculum from 2016 will
bring together all of the work done of the past two years into a
bespoke offer for our students. Further information on the
developments is included in the pack.
