April, 2017 He Is There Thoughts on Holy Week - by Ron Moore Eleven men sat in a darkened room. There had been twelve. Now one was dead. Del Huff Executive Director SPRING IS HERE ! Many consider Spring to be the most beautiful of all seasons. All seasons have their own unique wonder and beauty. We enjoy the four seasons in Colorado, but when Spring begins to enter our world, the grass greens, the trees come alive with fresh new leafs, and the tulips begin to pop their heads through the brown earth. To introduce our church congregation to the beginning of Holy Week we were blessed to have a wonderful Music and Drama presentation in remembrance of Christ’s final days on earth. It was beautiful, reminding us of God’s amazing plan for our salvation. As I have reflected on this season, I began thinking of the correlation of Jesus’ life and Spring. He lived His life leading up to the cross, the dark period He was required to experience, up until the resurrection. His time in the tomb was followed by His rebirth, coming to life once again. Spring is natures way of expressing the life of Christ. I recently came across several quotes about Spring that correlate with the life of Christ. In the days left before the Easter celebration, I encourage you to spend some quiet moments reflecting on the wonder of our salvation, with Spring in mind. Let your joy burst forth like flowers in the Spring. Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of Spring Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world. Sunshine (sonshine) is the best medicine. Along with darkness was a mixture of hopelessness and confusion. Jesus had promised so much. He had performed so often. His words were so certain. But now ... now all the promises, miracles and words were bound in grave cloths, lying cold and still in a dark tomb. Their hope was buried with Him. Death is seldom welcome. It barges into life like an impatient intruder. But for these men it was not just death, but the way it came, that made it all so unbelievable. In a whirlwind of events, He had been falsely tried, beaten and sentenced to die. The face that calmed their hearts winced as the mocking crown of thorns was jammed into His head. The hands that healed were grotesquely pierced by the spikes driven through His wrists. The lips that spoke with authority now screamed desperate cries to God. The Healer, helpless? The Christ, crucified? Hanging naked on a Roman cross? Not the Messiah! Never! They sat in the darkened room. The doors were bolted shut. Certainly those who had killed Jesus would be coming for them. The deafening silence was broken as every cough and creaking chair echoed throughout the room. The shuffling feet, the heavy sighs ... served as reminders of the tension. But then ... in an instant ... He was there! In the room! In the light of the flickering candles, He showed them all the proof they needed. His hands. His side. He was there! Alive! Every word He had spoken was true! Every promise fulfilled! Death conquered, forever! Today many live in a darkened world. Living lives of fear, confusion, discontentment and despair. Searching for meaning and significance ... in all the wrong places. Occupying themselves with busy days. Losing sleep over things that matter little. Losing time over things that don’t matter. And all the while, He is there. He shines His light on the darkened soul, exposing sin. His arms are open wide, accepting and forgiving the confessing sinner. And for all who turn and trust and call Him Savior and Lord, He speaks words of peace--eternal peace with God, lasting peace for tomorrow, settled peace for today. A New Song’s New Release A NEW SONG - ROMANIA SPRING TOUR 2017 IN THE UNITED KINGDOM by Adi Muscan - Ministry Director, Romania The UK tour was wonderful blessing. We traveled from Watford, England to Buckie, Scotland, in the far north. Along the way we had concerts in Hartlepool,Waldringfield, Freisingfield,Lancaster, Glenrothes, Dundee, Perth, Dunfirmline, Aberdeen and in couple of places we had 2 concerts. The weather was not extremely bad, but also not too warm, so I guess you could say, it was typical UK weather. In fact we had a couple days with snow, wind, hailstorm and cold rain all in the same day. It made our traveling quite challenging at times, but we are thankful to the Lord for safety as we traveled. The trip was long and the weather was not always accommodating, but we made it all with gratitude for what the Lord was able to accomplish through our ministry. The most beautiful part of the tour took place in the churches. The program, the songs, the message, worked so well together. It was wonderful to see old and young people praising God for the lives that have been changed at our camp, for the ministry that was done at camp, for the message in our songs and also for the message of hope and peace we shared through our testimonies. We sensed that there were many who were touched through our program. Many people came up after our concerts to share with us how the songs and the message had spoken directly to their hearts and at time brought tears to their hearts. The heart of our message during our concerts was taken from the book of Romans 8:1 & 2, focusing on our position with God, our hope in God’s plan and our future in Christ, and we linked this message with the tour theme song: 10,000 reasons, challenging each person with 3 important ways of serving God: Praising, loving and thanking. 10,000 reasons are a small number considering what He has done in us and through us. Yes, I/We Want To Participate In The Celebration Reformation Tour Of Europe Celebration Tour With Friendship International Martin Luther- Champion of the Truth - At the beginning of the sixteenth century all Europe stood in need of a man sufficiently stout-hearted and daring to defy the papacy with all its un-Scriptural traditions, its power, its pageantry, and all its anathemas, and to open the Scriptures to show the way to Christ who said, “Thy faith hath made thee whole.” Such a leader, in order to be successful, must be respected by all, practical in his outlook, learned in the classics and in the Bible, of sound judgment, and, above all, humble in his walk with God. Martin Bucer - Sought Unity of the Faith - Next to Luther and Melanchthon, Martin Bucer is doubtless the most eminent figure in the German Reformation. In fact, some Protestant authors consider him above the other two in his influence upon the theological thinking in Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. John Calvin - Reformer of Swiss Protestantism The doctrine by which Calvin is commonly known is that of “predestination,” a belief that God directs the fate of specific persons. After Calvin moved to Geneva, he stepped into public view and began to prepare an outline for church government, a confession of faith, and a catechism. He had prior to his coming to Geneva prepared his Institutes, a handbook of Christian belief, and this doubtless furnished the basis for his church constitution and a regulation of the moral life of the community. Ulrich Zwingli - Founder of Swiss Protestantism - As was true of many other reformers, Zwingli had no thought of separating from the Roman Catholic when he began to draw attention to its unBiblical teachings and to the moral lapses and outright corruption of the clergy in high and in low places alike. He soon perceived that the medieval church concerned itself with money-making, with baseless theological discussions, with condoning a clergy of low intellectual standards and few, if any, moral ideals. He turned with disgust from such a noxious example and took the position that the doctrines of the Scriptures should suffice for the religious instruction of the laity. John Wycliffe - Morning Star of the Reformation Any doctrine which emphasized externals to the loss of personal devotion to God, he condemned. Every sacrament, except marriage, received his rebuke. The natural outcome of such an attitude was an open break with the church, a consummation which apparently was not his original intent. But it remained for his attack on the validity of the sacrament of transubstantiation, the supposed transforming of the bread and the wine of the eucharist into the body and blood of Christ, to catapult him into his most serious altercation with the hierarchical system. William Tyndale - Kingpin of the English Reformation - It may be said at the risk of using superlatives that he gave more to the English Reformation than any other Reformer, for without his translation of the New Testament into the clear English of his day, so that the common man could read and understand, such great preachers as John Colet, Hugh Latimer, Nicholas Ridley, and others could have preached until doomsday, yet there would have remained little understanding of the Scriptures. John Knox - Fearless Scottish Reformer - Knox was the man who out-Calvined Calvin, brought all Scotland to her knees, and even made kings and queens bow to his will, began his work as a reformer after his forty-fourth birthday. None other among his colleagues is so sharply and dramatically outlined in the Reformation, unless it be Martin Luther. Patrick Hamilton - Young Reformer of Scotland Among the prominent men and women who devoted their lives to the cause of the Protestant Reformation, perhaps none was so youthful when his lifework was ended as Patrick Hamilton, the first preacher and martyr of the Scottish Reformation, and second only to John Knox in his influence on reform in Scotland. When he died for his faith at the stake he was probably not more than twenty-four years of age.
